yeah, just wish the goal had stood and that we had play wee mac for the full 90.

Better get up and get ready for work now.

McGlinchey was solid. Defense was iffy but that was to be expected. Not too many attacking opportunities but we definitely looked better with Fallon on.

I switched off immediately so no idea.

Three for me, and two for them.

Mexico deserved to win by more, though by that logic we deserved one goal.
Definitely lucky, but we made our own luck in many ways too.

Wing backs were exposed, esp. Coombes, though for a debut from an amateur I can't really blame him sorry.
Lochy wasn't as bad as everyone was saying, and considering he's supposed to play up too, got back pretty well.

Smith was solid, thought we missed Nelsen but Smith was as good as Vicelich I'd say.

Up front almost didn't exist bar a few moves, but we were too slow on the break - I know we're not a counter attack side, but some of it was frustrating to watch.

All in all though, looked much more likely to score than against Spain :P

I think Smeltz has been off the boil for a while in the white shirt.  Maybe he should start on the bench against 'Straya

Fallon should have started, along with McGlinchey. We need players who offer more on attack, someone like Chris James..

James needs game time and to get fit.  Needs more Oughton too.

OK. Check it all later on. Good job updating the game all.

Not a bad result really, against the 15th ranked team in the world. Defence a bit meh at times, but we had a couple of good chances. Definitely better up front once Fallon came on the field.

Smith = good

Coombes = f**king sh*t.

Elliot = f**king sh*t.

Mcglinchey = very good

That game made me really appreciate the Yellow Fever. The Rose Bowl's multicoloured fever sounded like a bangkok traffic jam the entire match

I would replace Smeltz with Wood for the Aussie game and start McGlinchey, perhaps also give Old a run at right back.

I think we do need 4 at the back though, but is old the answer?

We need Elliot in midfield I believe, I woul leave out Smeltz and stick McGlonchey behind the front 2 as the link man

I caught about 10 minutes of it when i got home and before dinner.  Any likelihood of replay on Prime or highlights on the interweb?

Sky are showing several highlights on SS2 over the next 24 hours. Didn't check much further than that.

Nope not having a laugh.
 Smeltz has been poor lately, Elliot has the experience in midfield and played ok today.

A 2-0 loss against Mexico isnt that bad.

Best player I thought was Fallon, is he really that good?

Have you forgotten Smeltz was the golden boot winner for the second season in a row just now? To say he's been poor is very uninformed. Elliot needed more time on the ball tonight from what I saw, looked like he got closed down very quickly but did OK.

would have been interesting if we'd played McGlinchey and Fallon from the start (and if the defense hadnt have fallen asleep for a wee bit in the second half).

Not bad for a bunch of jet lagged kiwis in front of 70K Mexican supporters

Smtih, sigmund and boyens did alright (not sure if that was legitimate when vela knocked siggie over). lochie and coombes battled. mclginchey did well when on. elliott was fine. Brown is the one who needs to do more when he puts on the AWs shirt. cant remember a contribution other than a yellow card. i have really enjoyed his contribution for phoenix but he cant leave all responsibility when we have possession to other midfielders when he plays for AWs. goes missing every time.

fallon did well, but i also thought killen was ok. smeltz did alright in parts. if we'd managed to deliver a bit more ball into the middle from out wide we might have caused them some problems. bertos started ok but faded.

it's been said a few times already, but i agree McGlinchey and Fallon looked decent

possibly Fallon benefiting from the work done earlier by Killen

though of the two Fallon offers a bit more on the ball

certainly not disgraced out there today

and enough to suggest a full strength AW's might sneak a point in one of the group matches

Jagged Kiwi's, they were just the same coming from Europe.

McGlinchey seems to always add something to our team when he comes on, why wont Ricki start him. And what does Wood need to do to get more of a chance and some decent game time??

Elliott seems to be getting a bit of criticism today, a lack of game time at his club and old age catching up??

Would love to see a mid field combo of Brown and Mcg n there with a fit Chris James, who is in my opinion when fit, our best mid fielder. Unfortunately that has been a while.

guys, the James obsession is somewhat hard to understand. what has he actualy done in his career other than get let go by one coach after another. i think the guy shows glimpses and id love to see him grow into a good player, but no claim to AWs spot based on what he's done so far in his career
