I wish it weren't so but I feel we will get beaten by a few goals tomorrow. This Mexican team is strong, probably stronger than two of the opponents we will face in S.A. The main thing is not to panic, there is a lot of peparation to come and a few key players are missing.

having Rhino and Vicelich out might help us put a bit of a spin on things if we do let a few in

as to the rugby heads - if they do believe Wellington/NZ will go back to their version of the 'good old days' I think they are in for a bit of a disappointment

Reckon it will be a hiding ( happy to be proved wrong

) but still, a real good grounding for the world cup, which is what its about anyway.

Also reckon this Mexican side could beat anyone in their own or our World Cup group.

Great that we get to play class sides that wouldn't want to know us if it wasn't for our qualification. Much better we play against class than not, what ever the result.

Respect to the Mexico side who, it's reported, will be fielding a full strength team ...... watched by a 70,000 strong crowd. This should really put the AW's into 'World Cup' mode.

From a tactical view a win or a draw would be good, but from a strategic view, a loss at this stage would give the team, management and supporters clear focus on what we are up against; meaning more practise, more preparation, etc.

That's what I'm taking from it, anyway.

i think so long as we can do better than bolivia, and even put one or two in the back of the net, then it'll be a great match to watch.

If we can hold our own against a full strength Mexican team, in front of a predominantly Mexican crowd, it'll be another proud moment for the AW's IMO

Article on Stuff indicates a 4-4-2 which is surprising given whats been said previously. Had Moss, Locky, Tommy S, Boyens, Siggy, Coombes, Super Leo, Brownie, Elliot, Rory and Killer. This makes a bit of sense given Mexicos attacking ability.

Its no longer a problem.

Man, that American newspaper article on the game linked from our front page has attracted some RACIST comments. Like some people complaining that the game is even being played, because it attracts filthy Mexicans.

I'm excited about this game. I think we can frustrate the mexicans, and trouble them on attack with the limited chances we will get. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go to half time 1-1, or 1-0 to either side.
Not sure of the final score though... hope we don't get thrashed..

Yeh i'm thinking 3-0 would be ok, as long as we have chances on goal. And it would be great to get a goal or two. Who knows mexico may crumble under the pressure..

I would be ok with 4 - 1, would love to see us get a goal, especially early.

Heard Killen has just come back from an injury. Would start Elliot as he seems more of a defensive mid more than McGlinche.

Smeltz was a terrible winger, IMHO.
I'd put him up front with Fallon.
Would play little Mac because he's quick & hungry - we're going to be done for pace in this game.

killen is back from injury but did get through 90 on weekend. i would have thought he'll start smeltz bc he is fresh and no game on the weekend. i wouldnt be surprised to see the 3-4-3 again (which is really 5-2-3 or even 5-3-2 in disguise), in which case whoever's up front is going to have to run their arse off and defend like crazy.
