YellowFury were told no Bugle, if there are different standards that would be disappointing.

And what about that air horn at the nix matches recently (or is that not an instrument)?

Will take my ukelele tomorrow to test the rules.
I love the air horns, imagine the chants, singing, drums and horns going off at one time..Would be like watching a world cup match in europe..lol

Yeah, they had a loud speaker amplifying all sorts of drums and horns and annoying noise in Bahrain. Let them use their lungs like us few hundred had too :)

If we build it, they will come...

that would be appalling  -

cultural sensitivity is helpful as cultures merge in an increasingly globalised world

but that's no excuse for handing a chance to claw back some of our  home advantage to the opposition

NZF needs to see that the rules are enforced

Bahrain brought professional musicians to come drum their team to victory. I don't think they will be doing that from the car park. Hence my feeling. Some lame excuse will be made.

if that is so whoever sanctioned it are either weak-willed, thick (i.e completely unaware of sports' psychology) or bribeable

I can't comprehend giving the away team anything that might help their cause

idiots!

edit -and if you think I'm barking just check Ahmed's description of the reason those poxy drums and drummers where flown all this way ..

they might be cute and culturally funky but they belong to a team we want to beat -

BAN THE DRUMS !!

Yes, drum them out of town.

I think we are making too much of a song and dance about this. If we trumpet this issue too loudly it will only drum up support for the opposition.

That wood wind me up - really and I'd be so brassed off then.

Front page of the Dom post today Stadium rules "no musical instruments" End of i would think.

Time to stop being hospitable now i think. Give em respect, but give em hell (Bar their anthem, that's quiet time, we could practice for the goal kicks)

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!

utterly agree!

I've texted Frank Van Hattum to raise the issue.

I really think we would be naive fools to hand them back any of our home advantage.

As things stand now I'd back a complete instrument ban for everyone - including the Bahraini band and supporters - if its going to apply to the NZ supporters. Its either all can or none can - no preferential treatment.

But that aside I reckon any kind of instrument ban at this game (or any other) is incredibly moronic as it just reduces the atmosphere, fun and the opportunities to grow new support by being diverse and fun. Whats the problem with it anyway? There is a very good reason why FIFA isn't bothered about it - just look at the awesome football crowds in their millions all over the world with all kinds of music, chants singing and instruments to get the answer to that.

Westpac Stadium's policy is a national embarassment really and it will probably hit the media negatively one way or the other. If it turns out they do let the Bahrainis have instruments and ban everyone else (e.g. all the NZ supporters) - then that should be made a media issue post-match. Just plain fairness as well as giving away some home advantage. If they do ban the Bahrainis as well you can bet that they'll have plenty to say about it afterwards (and so they should) So it will be a media issue anyway - Hey reporters! - theres good story brewing here whatever happens...

Is Westpac Stadium Management completely stupid? Do NZ Football or FIFA have any say at all in any of this? FIFA seems to have plenty of say on other issues like the number of extra seats etc...

My preference in all this? - well I'd love to see the Bahraini music group there (good on them) but to be able to be taking them on with some awesome mass chants, songs, drums or whatever we can brew up of our own.

Oh - and I back song sheets so everyone at least has the chance to join in. If you want to see football support grow in size and quality in NZ then that sort of thing is a no-brainer.

Anyway - I'm ready to sing/shout/scream my lungs out tonight. Thought about bringing some drums but it seems its an offical no-go (those idiots).

Why all this confusion for the drums??
When New Zealand fans  attended  in our stadium , they have the Psalms air and they had absolute freedom to spread  the huge Flag of New Zealand's in stadium seats
And their voices were clearly audible to us!!
We have respected treated with your fans  , I hope to get same respect with our fans .

Sadly, we don't even have respectful Phoenix fans at times.
I hope they don't come across any trouble tonight.

Don't worry about it. There is great respect for the passion of the Bahraini fans - I had some nice greetings with many of them yesterday. Of course they will be able to come to the Stadium and support their team in the way that means the most to them - its all anyone would expect.

There is just some weird stadium rules and general attitudes about music and drums at football matches here. Also, the management of the stadium has lots of stupid rules about all sorts of things. Everyone here has been told that musical instruments are not allowed in the stadium (it isn't aimed specifically at you guys). It is on the online information and published on the front page ogf today's newspaper. So everyone here is confused. Its pretty emarassing really. Your guys will have no problem.

Good luck to you, but just a little bit more luck to us eh!

Cheers
