Thanks Warzy.

Patrons may not bring into the Stadium:Signs or banners that are obscene, offensive or abusiveFlag poles of more than one metre in length

An option we're lookng at is a witty dig at the fact that either they only have oil going for them, or that they are unknown for football.

Too political?

Nah i wouldn't think so. But To be safe, i would stick to a All Whites kind of sign, rather than a shot at them.

I'm interested in making some sort of banner. Can any help be offered for a noob?

Do I look for an old white bedsheet and paint on it? Is that the usual modus operandi?

Hey just checked fifa website.
For World Cup games (im assuming applys to qualifiers) 2m x 1.5m is the limit. So a personal-ish size.

Will this be policed?

yea i think fifa would only bother policing political signs. i doubt they would care about a lighthearted banner that is mildly oversized

I think you would all be surprised, the stadium staff have been pretty anal about policing the national flag rule at the stadium for Nix games. Imagine they will only be worse for the AWs game

So what are these rules you speak of please?

Also, any ideas on what I should put on the banner?

I think I can arrange for something to be painted on in Arabic

Yeah i would be much more worried about the stadium pulling down the banner, rather than it being a FIFA decision.

Putting something on in Arabic appeals to me (would also have English), but I am afraid it will be shunned by the host broadcaster due to not knowing what it says, and I presume that internationally they will all just take a feed from SKY?

If you had the same quote in both Arabic and English, I recon SKY would be more likely to show it. It would look mean.

It is just potentially risky because everyone would have to take my word for it that the Arabic wasn't saying something offensive. Plenty of Bahrainis around to confirm it, but they probably wouldn't bother.

If anyone is putting the name Nelsen on a banner, please make sure it is NELSEN, not NELSON, same applies to WOOD, not WOODS

A-League/FFA has beef with flags that aren't NZ/Aus.

NZF and the stadium had beef with the political banners at the Vanuatu game.

Those are the five fundamentals of Islam that are known as "pillars" of the faith.

I didn't know that the Bahraini flag had that symbolism but know about the pillars.

I'm not here to preach so ignore this is you want - the pillars are testifying to the belief in God/Allah and Muhammad as his messenger/prophet, the daily prayers, fasting in the month of Ramadhan, paying charity to the poor, and making the pilgrimage to Makkah (Hajj) in one's lifetime if one is capable mentally/physically/financially.

I really don't ever see myself going to watch the local Dunedin football club play in the national competition, but I'll always support a NZ team or anyone playing against Australia. ahmad2009-10-30 11:51:35

Geez mate, talking about stadia in Dunedin is worse than referring to ROF as something you use for baking.

Well as has been mentioned in other threads it is used to toast other teams (or fry them I guess).
