Best New Zealand Coaches
Rufer?
Leggy you scamp. Please take it seriously.
Pavlovich?
I still think Ramon is one of the best at tactical analysis in the country. I was lucky to sit near him on a game he was watching and some of the things he mentioned were extremely insightful. In terms of execution on the field, well, its probably not gone as well as it should have in some games.
Emblen would have to be high on that list I guess. Calcott is making a bit of a name for himself. I've never been a fan but I can't deny what he is doing at TW. 2 years ago they were the form team going into the final... He is also acutely honest rather than full of rhetoric
I guess if you are looking at the next one after Ricki, that makes it interesting..
I think Matt C will be a great NZ coach.
Jeff Vader
He seems to know everything about football.
Leggy you scamp. Please take it seriously.
Sorry HN, just could not resist it.
Have to say have being 'away'for a few years I really can't comment, however, one bloke that I have always rated( and he is now in Aussie) is Keith Garland.
Terry Conley was one of the best!
Emblen.

Jitka Klimkova
Nice...
I thought Aaron Mcfarland has been one of the most successful and has his teams playing probably "the best" football. There is nowhere near enough coverage to judge this properly though.
Gareth Turnball
in my own experience i'd have to say barrie truman - he had amazing insight.
dugdale was ok too, but i was too young to have a real appreciation of what he was doing.
keith garland is a good name, he was a great player, not surprised he's now a good coach
clive campbell was meant to be the next big thing a while ago, what happenned to him>?

that's a good point
what's mcfarlane doing now?
McFarlane is technical director at ACFC and I think coaches one of the womens age group teams? Not quite sure.
Clive has vanished off the landscape. Last seen at Takapuna in 2011?
... and potentially Ivan Vicilich, currently coaching Auckland youth.
Colin Tuaa did a great job with Manawatu back in the day

As long as he does not have the same attitude when he was a young player.
seen him do bit of coaching, wouldn't say he had any potential.
Irony in that Ivan gets paid for 'coaching' and does none. Also it's a little embarrassing that he is a sideline champ when he is known for being a short fuse on the field.... but we can't say that.
Bloody good footballer though

NP. you are quite correct. Barry was a nice guy I have to say.
Who were some of your coaches John? did you ever have Don Jones?

Only played against him, but knew him pretty well. Ken Armstrong, Bert Ormond, Fred Dubber, Ray Mears, Wally Hughes, Ken Hodson, Alec Forbes,John Schwanner, Lou Brocic to mention a few.
Jesus. Some names in that

Forgot to mention Billy Walsh and Tom McNab.
Why did you hate Dennis Tindall? I played with him at Courier Rangers. I know Graeme and Paddy -- good blokes.
Some other guys that I did clinics/camps with that impressed were John Houghton, Ken Armstrong, Graeme Bilby and Paddy Breslin. .
Gee I hope Paddy doesnt read that. I have enough trouble stopping him talking now.
I just thought he was a little prick, short man's disease, that combativeness probably made him the player he was but i think he struggled initially to get the best out of players. i think he came to us straight from playing at CR and went off to University Cowan and had a bit of success there. sometimes you just dont click with someone and he was it with me.

Thanks. Just being nosey.
