Best player never to play for AWs
Were the likes of Butters or the Little's ever approached ?

That's the type of player the All Whites and Phoenix need. Someone who is as hard as nails. Aloisi is the closest we will get to that, unlessl, as I have suggested countless times on this forum, we bring Stig Tofting on board.

Are you talking about Paul Nicholls from ChCh Tech?
sorry christchurch fans, but allan carville would have to come close for me. excellent in the national league as a goal poacher, but a headless chicken in a white shirt
Playing against him this Saturday. Managed to nutmeg him last time. Will pass on your high opinion and tell him to check out the forum. He is in some pretty good company and still a fairly handy player.
Very unlucky not to become an AW.

glad you agree! i know it's one from left field, but i really enjoyed watching him play as a kid and i didn't see many better wingers in the cigarette leagues. i must say, i really enjoyed the christchurch united side of those days; their epic battles with mount wellington is stuff of legends. it's a pity those days are gone

He played in 2 non A Internationals in '92 so 50/50 whether you call that playing for the AWs or not. He was one of my favourite Waikato United players.
Jimmy Cudd and Chris McIvor were two of the driving forces behind the City Rovers sides of the early 2000's. Loved watching them play the likes of Central and Mirimar in those days. lucky enough to have played with both of them at HB at the back end of their careers.
Archie Thompson
I'm just waiting for the first muppet to say Michael Eager
Michael Eager
Jimmy Cudd always impressed me.

Jimmy Cudd did play for the AWs I think. Cant remember the game. Might have been against a touring club side. Might have been more than one (yes this is vague but I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in a 6am convo we had in Bangkok last year)
Wiki out of date or list is only international caps. ???? Big Peter 65 hellp required.
or maybe I imagined the convo.
He was named in one those wider, 30-man "prelim squad" things that were in vogue for a while, along with the likes of Sanjay Singh, but never actually got on the park, to the best of my knowledge
