For those of us having to watch games every night in the witching hours, here's a little competition. Who's the most dedicated World Cup fan who hasn't made it to SA? Measured by GW/GP score (Games watched over games played) expressed as a simple percentage. Falling asleep on the couch means the game being watched can't be included. Making it to half time counts as a half point. I'm at 56% today (11 1/2 games out of 17). Been hard work but loving it all.

I've seen every minute of every game so far, all live. And I work regular hours and haven't had a day off. I'm experiencing levels of tiredness that I didn't know existed,. Somethings gotta give soon.

10 1/2 (The half was the Chile game). I missed a bit of the start of a couple matches too but can't count that as missing a match.

The rest of the games i've either put a replay on in the background of doing something else (hard to watch when i know what the score already is) or seen highlights.

And i'm bloody tired. Don't know how some of you cope.

Three for me, and two for them.

Watched about 11 games live. I am really hating the games being played in the middle of the night/morning. And my Skying it and then watching it the next day just isn't the same.

I bow down to Thejam and Surge and are going for the title of the slackest fan on here as only seen 5 games live (tho also been to 2 dance parties and watched 3 hrs of drag racing since the cup started so that scuppered plans)

And I'm also going for the most improved fan as 5 games is prob the most I've ever watched live at an entire WC before so now have tripled my interest & effort. Also I have next Mon & fri off so will easily double if not triple my amount within the next week

I will watch every game on the weekend. Potentially all the games tonight. And 90% of games during next week. And of course every knockout match. Looking for a hit rate of about 80 to 85%

I'm doing early and late.  Recording the middle one and watching after the late game.

I'm on 14 full games. I slept through no more than half the other games. I changed my work hours so I start work at 8.30am. I go home at 5pm and then try go to sleep. Easier said than done! I'm absolutely exhausted, I don't know whether I'll able to keep it up, but I'll try. The World Cup is only every four years and there is nothing like it!

I haven't missed one yet, and don't intend to (the clashes should be interesting). I've taken the month off Uni, so all I'm doing at the moment is watching football. Getting through Algeria Slovenia and then Serbia Ghana was hard, but I made it. Just.

All except two.
Surviving on two hours of sleep a night, then sleep on the train to and from work. And a bit in the evenings.

my efforts are so weak i won't even bother to chronicle them

but i reckon Upside-down blue (him of world cup baby fame)
must be well placed for 'bigness' in the fan stakes - not least because he is at least one whole 100% tournament viewing ahead of almost all on here

I just want to say, after reading News's post, does it piss you off when they talk about earlier games during the commentary of the later game? Cos they spoilt the result of a game I was intended to see later during a 6:30am commentary!! Ffffff....

HardNews why aren't you over there son Dad?

13 for me so far. And I'm supposed to be studying so have found myself studying the synthesis of antibiotics at 4am on more than one occasion. All is well though.

There are much better drugs you could be taking at 4am
12 games so far + highlights, the boss is surprised every morning I'm in at 8.30

Every game live, the happiness balances the lack of sleep mainly, until I try reading about Maori art or understanding cubics.

You know we belong together...

52.5% now after only watching one game today. It's a marathon not a sprint and the real test comes in the round 3 games where there are 4 games during the night due to 2 games being played at the same time for one pool then 2 games at the same time for another pool. Standard operating procedure demands watch one game live then the replay of the other, watch another live then a replay of the other.

I was waiting for a response along those lines. Bear in mind I am now a PE Teacher.

At the end of last term I played some "motivational music" to the classes that came to me. Discharge and GBH amongst others. A surprising number of kids thought it was very cool.
