Black or blue change strip?

I've an old All White's shirt from the Adidas days. I've been
wearing it for years, and love the quality, but, because it is
white it is a real hassle to keep clean. I'd love to buy one
of the new Nike ones, but I don't want a white one, and I refuse to
buy a blue one. The day Nike bring a black away strip onto
the market is the day they get my money. Dragon2007-05-11 05:00:04

Black or Blue, who the hell are you?
Just thought I'd throw that one in there.

I voted for black, BTW.

black. simply because it used to be our home strip and it
just plain looks better!

i actually like the blue strip not as predictable and more original
then black

I voted for black for the sole reason that I refuse to wear Chelsea colours.

I'd like the blue with red trim look, like our flag. The black reminds me too much of r*ugby, and no doubt commentators would remark on this. And, as pedersen said, black is too predicable.
On the subject, who was behind the yellow (supposed to be gold?) trim that's on the current home strip? Absolutely nothing to do with our country or our football history. Get rid please Nike.

The All Whites played in blue shirts and red shorts against
Australia in Adelaide in the 2004 Nations Cup. They wore it a
couple of times in that campaign. Quite odd really as Australia
played in green that night and there was no real reason why we
couldn't have played in white.
I thought the blue was ok. Wearing the national colours as an
away kit is my preference rather that trying to piggy bag on rugby
and play in black.

The All-Blacks wear white as a change strip, so simple, has to be
black. The other national colour of the country.

Why should rugby dictate what colours football shoull wear?. See
this is just another reason why I get anti the rugby thing. This
idea that because rugby do this we should follow suit. Its kind of
like the sporting nickname thing. What ever happened to simple NEW
ZEALAND? We got ALL this and All That, Tall, Small, Black this and
black that, it just gets a little overpowering for me at times.
Black has never been the national colours of NZ as a country...a
sporting entity yeah but as a nation we are blue red and white with
a few stars thrown in for embelishment. Black was only
brought in as a marketing tool.

Hell G., you and I could go on for hours about this sorta stuff.

Hahaha, yes we could. Quite amusing that the two biggest rugby
haters in NZ are on this forum! Yes seems we do still hold those
similar views on things. I think you are more of a traditionalist
than myself - but I like where you are coming from. How'd the
O's go this season...hopefully better than my Canaries. They were
Norfolk 'N' Good this year.

19th in a division of 24 does not represent our most successful
season. I've used the word "consolidation" a lot since
avoiding relegation was confirmed.
On the subject of AW's change strip, no-one mentioned the
light blue possibility as worn on The Road To Spain (tm).
Hopefully, modern fabric colouring techniques have improved since
those days, when the "all light blue" strip was actually
turquoise shorts with ice-blue shirts.

Normal order resumed in East Anglia this season, thank god.

Er, not quite my Horsey mate from down yon Ipswichville:-p I do
believe the mighty Colchester United hold the title of "Pride Of
Anglia" this year...and, for the first time since league footballl
came into being I might add.Yes I concede Ipwich finished an
impressive two places higher than my budgies, but Colchester
finished an impressive 10th. You might debate that technically
Colchester aren't in Anglia, but I lived in the region for near on
5 years and I can most certainly confirm that Anglia TV showed
Ipswich, Norwich, Peterborough, Cambridge and Colchester matches
with the ocassional oddity screened from Diss Town and Kingz (sp
hahaha) Lynn.

Oh yes I finally got round to changing my avatar thingamybob and
signature. Got rid of the silly bird and replaced it with a photo
of Pete Drummond, the current drummer in Dragon. I took this
pic at the Hamilton gig. Might try and swap the pics from time to
time with various images I';ve taken round the traps. Oh and I get
a bit of a giggle from the signature. Any player that can collide
with a moose whilst out training gets my thumbs up. Might be one
for the Phoenix players to try and emulate or better....

TBH, the Colchester thing does not worry me (they feel like a
little brother done good) but those two places are hugely
important.
...Anyway, we have digressed somewhat.
I loved the Black, can't put my finger on it, but it felt unique so it's my preference. Could be because my Nike blue is a little 'svelte' on me.

I've very rarely seen Colchester during daylight hours. In fact the
last trip I made there was to see Ian Dury play and it was a set of
poetry with John Cooper Clarke.
Re the black, it doesn't really get me hard. The Nike blue
goes well with my eyes and the Tui's girls really love it when I
pop round in my smaller M sized kit. Highlights my mantities.

Blue purely because it isn't black!! Black = Rugby=boring
Hadn't they just released the blue kit when we played those
games in 2004? Marketing ploy methinks...or they couldn't get
the stains out of the first kit!!
But I do think we could do something a bit more interesting
than blue/blue/blue.

This is a funny topic.
The debate should be over white or blue as the away
strip.
Black used to be our home strip but this was changed because
FIFA stipulated back in the day that Refs were to be in black and
no one else. THus we changed. In modern football, where
the refs often have better strips then the clubs there is no reason
for us to continue to not use our national colour. And
no this has absolutly nothing to do with rugby.

I like the idea of a grey or silver colour.
I also have to respectfully disagree with Mr Canary and his
anti-rugby stance. I appreciate he may not care for the game but
actively denegrating other sports to promote one's own is exactly
the behaviour which gives football fans in New Zealand a bad
reputation. God knows the rugby fraternity don't care too much
about what football is up to, so why should we put them down? In
fact, i anticipate that if marketed correctly, a large proportion
of the Phoenix fans will also be rugby supporters so to alienate
them is not in the best interests of the team.
Live and let live.

agree with you shackleton, i follow football first but alos
loev rugby, league, bball (USA mainly) and even cricket. So
it's each to there own some other supporters like sports like
curling which i don't but hey they can have their own favs too so
all the best to thers who support not just football

What is wrong with Black as the first choice. Every other sport in
NZ (BBall, ruggers, hockey, netball, cricket, motor racing,
swimming, athetics etc) use black as their first choice colour. OK,
we are called the All Whites so that is a good reason but as
mentioned, we only use white as history stipulated it.
To keep things consistant, lets use white as the first choice
kit (I prefer white anyway) and get black as the alternate
kit.
Its no longer a problem.
