If we draw or win the 1st leg i would say sell out. If not being conservative i would say 25-30

Desperately hoping that the ticket prices dont't backfire, should have been half the price IMO

If we get more than 25 I'd be pleasantly surprised tbh.

What was the most we got at a home qualifier for '82? Is it the highest for a home All Whites game ever?

I'd say 30k tops with a good result (i.e. one that gives a chance). But probably 20, maybe 25k depending on the actual scoreline.

If we get thumped first up...well. Don't want to think about that.

Hopefully we'll sell a heap of tickets before the first leg, so regardless of how it goes we'd at very least have those people there.

I think $40 is a good price for a ticket.  Considering the importance of the game people will be willing to go and take the family (unless they have 25 children), added to that it'll (hopefully) make NZF a bit of money.

Heard it was $28 for the ticket. Should sell quite a few then. Might be misinformed.

I predict sell out + massive ticketing cock up

half the price??? are you kidding?

$40 for a world cup qualifer, no matter who the teams is bloody cheap.

I think they're spot on.
Permalink Permalink
over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I know it's cheap, but NZF should see this game as an opportunity to give us the best possible chance of getting to a world cup since 1982, not a way to fill the coffers. Yes NZF need the money, but a sell out at this game is far more important.

nzfc have done everything right here - aiming to sell out the stadium to do what is best for the team by offering well priced ticket's -rather than charge a higher amount where they may get more revenue but the palce may only be 3/4 full and not create the noise / home territory advantage that they would with a sell out.
I think it has been marketed well to date, big up's to them.

I'm sure it was V Kuwait at Mt Smart (won't talk about the ref or result but I remember it clearly)
close to 30,000 which was the most for an All Whites game (in NZ) ever.

We'll smash that attendence record on 14 November all things going well.

You're right - official record is 31,000 for that match. (Sauce: http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/142662)

Fingers crossed we'll beat that here in NZ's true home of football

It is about half the price, about half the price of most other international games around the world!

This would be about $90 in Scotland.

Plus, there are $29 tickets too.

Considering the All Blacks charge up to $150 a pop, ($70 for the cheapest!!) and for games that really mean nothing (Tri Nations - who cares?), it's pretty good pricing.

Yeah can't argue with the pricing. Lets everyone, get on early Friday morning. And sell out the White Noise Zone within the day. Now that would be something.

I will grumble about the price for a family but in all honesty i think the prices are reasonable.

Hopefully when we come out of the recession the gumm'nt will acknowledge the role that football fans have played in injection vast amounts of disposable income into the economy (season tickets, new shirts, chips at ROF, AW match, travelling to Palmy and/or ChCh, more nix gear for rellies' christmas presents...again).

I predict a sell out crowd. The marketing is brilliant. Its played on Radio Sport. Theres the One shot for glory website. And I know that alot of pple from around the country will be coming down so I believe it will be a sell out. :) GO KIWI'S!!!

I'll be interested to find out if TVNZ will be covering live the 1st leg in either bahrain or saudi?. I hope they do, they could play it on there sporting freeview chanel!! That would also hype up the interest for the return leg at the cake tin.

To an audience of 200?  Who has Freeview!?  Play it on TV1 or give it to sky.

I'd say it's about 95% likely TVNZ will be showing the game live on TV One or TV Two.

It will be a sell out. Definitely not before the 1st leg. I predict a strong and solid 1st leg game as well as the coverage to account for half the ticket sales. It is certainly almost once in a generation event for many who remember well the 1980s and a new event for the post 1982-generation New Zealanders.

Given the long memories, the recent news of the National team at the Confederation Cup including an outstanding performance against Italy and the draw against Iraq (AFC Champions), performance of the youth National teams in the Olympics, U17 and U21, as well of the increasing presence of the Wellington Phoenix and A-League over the last two plus season I wager that sporting New Zealanders are getting familiar of importance.

Having witness the rise of Australia Socceroos in 2006 and sudden elevation in the soccer world, it would hard not to think that NZ should do the same because we are naturally competitive to match up to the Aussies, despite the fact that most do not realise that the Socceroo have moved to AFC.

Since there is that presence of thought as well as having an increase of population due to immigration etc, it should be a sell out. The timing would be in the first weekend of the school Holidays, I understand. Ideal situation.

Yeah, especially the great performance of the U20 side...it'll all depend on the result of the first game. If we do well, we'll get a good crowd, if not, it'll be football fanatics only.

You can predict anything you want, but we'll get there massively underdone.

Way early days.  6000 will be the football diehards or people wanting prime seats.  But very encouraging I think

Come Oct/Nov and a bit of publicity (?) the average punter will become engaged/interested

Got my tickets today, would have got them earlier but was waiting for pay day. I would be very dissapointed if less than 30,000 turn up. It's gonna cost me around $600 including flights and accommodation.

Four of us coming up from Christchurch, flights, tickets and accomm all booked.

I heard somewhere (I think on the radio) that they'd sold 5000 tickets...

Anyone confirm that?

The key is the first leg in Bahrain. If we can beat them or convinsingly score and draw then it will boost the gate sales with out a shadow of a doubt. Just out of curiosity...who has the tv rights for these two games?? TV1 or sky?? someone confirm

I will be disappointed if the crowd isn't near sell-out after taking the risk and paying for flights from Dunedin!

I'm not a soccer *sorry* football nut and have never flown to see a sporting event but there is always a time for everything.

Risk?
I'm coming from Sydney & I'll put money on it that there's a few coming from further afield (supporting NZ).

Sorry. I meant "risk" as in not waiting until the first game is played, therefore risking the second game being potentially "dead".

I'm glad I did it though. I wouldn't have been able to afford flights at Air NZ's short notice pricing so fingers crossed the boys do well in the first game.

don't forget that there will prob be bahrain supporters coming over. If beating saudi the other night is anything to go by then i reckon around 100+ of there supporters will make the trip over.
