Dear Fred & Mark,

Thank you for your excellent commentary this morning. You are my favourite commentators.

I don't mind at all that you didn't know a SINGLE opposition players' name; I mean, that happens all the time in televised football games around the world. Mark, I really like the very tongue in cheek way in which you managed to describe a player entirely based on the number on the back of his shirt.

Just for future reference, perhaps I could introduce you to a new website called www.google.com , and perhaps even wikipedia.org . Of course, you wouldn't want to rely entirely on what they list, but perhaps you could use it to help do a little bit of research before a game (of course, you shouldn't be expected to do any research on opposition players before a game).

Also, I can excuse you both for missing the fact that Vicelich was clearly shown a yellow card, and then a red, rather than a straight red. I mean, I could see that, so there's no need or expectation for you to have picked that up.

I really wish you still commentated Phoenix games. I miss you both.

Love

Sawu

PS Mark Paston is my favourite keeper and is really awesome, he played really well.

PPS Mark Elrick, I really like your haircut. You're my favourite Elri***.

Didn't they say right at the beginning, that they were supposed to be getting commentary from over there. But it did not work. May have been complete last minute. (I may have just heard wrong)

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!

I didn't hear that Scoop - I just heard them say that they were expecting to get a team list come through. Still, it's fair to expect them not to have done a single ounce of research on a single opposition player, considering it is pretty hard in this day and age with the interweb thingy.

Although, maybe Jordanian commentary wouldn't have been so bad...

I had two favourite Elrich moments:

1. When he used the word "outsmartened" which (a) isn't a word and (b) is hilariously ironic, and

2. When he described the positions Tim Brown gets into in the "8 yard box".  This one was especially entertaining and my flatmate and I listened to it two or three times just to make sure.

Fred I didn't mind so much.  His voice has the tone of a power drill drilling at really slow speed into something very dense but at least what he says isn't moronic.

I loved the way he paused to think about it before he said it too.  You could hear the mouse in the wheel in his head panting.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
