I heard you on Radio Sport crying 'Poor old me its not fair' and also read the article on the website.

Couple of questions for you

1: Selection double standards? You feel that selecting Scott and Mulligan is a double standard cause they aren't playing? Last I looked, neither are you. I also didn't realise your saw yourself as a right back...

2: Whom should have stayed behind in place of you? Elliot? Brown? (VC) McGlinchy? Bertos? Come on now lad.

You haven't really done too much after you left the Knights other than a couple of appearances in Sydney and Hawkes Bay. You might have kicked a ball at the Confeds but McGlinchy is a better footballer than you, end of -  meaning Bertos plays on the right. You really think you are better than him?

Your cheese is in the post, it'll be blue by the time it gets there to go nicely with your whine.

I have no idea about what Brockie has said (and I cannot really be bothered to try and find out more than the gist I have gotten from Darth's post), but in principle I have no problem with players expressing their dissatisfaction about being left out of something like this.  Brockie obviously thinks he is better than some of the players who have been picked, and that level of self confidence is a good thing for our players to have.  I am sure that Brockie hasn't burnt any bridges with his comments, so kind of prefer this attitude to the "well I am disappointed, but the best players are there" approach.

I also have never really rated Brockie much as a player, and don't think we will miss him.

Thats what he means by double standards...him not being picked because he hasnt been playing, yet those guys havent been playing and get picked...hence double standard.

And yeah what frankie said basically. But yeah is fair not picking him,Mcglinchey probably took his place in the end.

That may be what also annoys him, this guy comes back from the other side of the world after the rules change so he can play for NZ. Then he knocks Brockie out of the squad - who probably thought he'd played well at the Olympics and got himself back into the HAL with NQF (even if he did get injured).

Of course I couldn't give a toss. However, you can imagine his frustration though, especially with people as rubbish as Mulligan making the squad (positional differences aside).

Well I can say I should be in the squad becuase I am a better centre forward than James Bannatyne.

This is not actually true.

Yeah you can only have annoyance with someone being picked ahead of you in your own position when it comes to ability. therefore its mcglinchey,in which case surely its a good thing for NZF and he should probably put the country first...and has done since thats not actually what hes complaining about.

His issue seems to be of circumstance. that he says hes not been picked due to not having been playing, yet riki has picked people who have not been playing themselves. Which I would be annoyed about too.

But reality is,McGlinchey got picked ahead of him because he is better. Brockie obviously thinks he is better and should have been selected in ahead of him,and good on him for thinking that. If every footballer from NZ thought they werent the best, and dont think they deserve to be in the all whites,we'd have a pretty lame unconfident squad.

Same thing with Hearfield with the nix,for whoever saw that thread before it got taken down.

Think he has real class and potential. not really a defensive player though, would prefer him up with your strikers tbh.

This should just be motivation for him. Perhaps Ricki should give him a call and just say" mate you're on my radar and I know you're disapointed, but step it up over this next month and show us what you've got for the Fury, and you may see your name there come Nov 14".

To be honest, since he hasn't played since the injury, I assumed that maybe he hasn't fully recovered.

However Scott and Mulligan has been training over the time and Brockie has just been back from a quad injury. So the training itself over the time is a deciding factor, whereas just being back from an injury has a different story. Brockie may have told Ricki that he is fit, but if he hasn't been on the field then maybe the doctors in the CCM are not totally convinced that Brockie is ready. At least he is getting a game this weekend. Usually if Brockie does not reinjure himself in the first game back and does so for the whole 90 minutes, he would be back in the frame almost straight away in the coaches thinking.

Ricki has mention that Jeremy Brockie was the unluckiest All White to miss the Bahrain trip. Brockie may be back later for the home leg. I wouldn't rule him out yet.AllWhitebelievr2009-10-02 02:17:31

Doctors at NQF I think you mean.

I think it's ludicrous for Brockie to argue the double-standard argument.  He hasn't played, Mulligan hasn't played but Mulligan is selected.  If Brockie was selected then it'd be double-standards the other way and I'm sure he'd be more than happy with it.

And I think that Mulligan is better cover in defense/defensive midfield than Brockie is in midfield/attack.

Could maybe understand him being miffed that Barron and Scott got picked ahead of him when they aren't training full time in a professional environment.  But both have the advantage of being able to get in front of Herbert from time to time and prove they are fit enough and competitive at that level.  He has to take Brockie's word for it.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I think that McGlinchey is a good player and so is Brockie. They play in different positions. I think that Brockie is under rated and when he moved to Sydney he was a much better player.
However, The AW squad is not too bad at the moment and unless he can become a good left defender soon, he may struggle.

Well he didn't even make the bench for the NQF in their 1-1 draw (Good on ya Tambo).  If he's not good enough (read playing well enough/not fit enough) for the NQF this close to the Bahrain game then he is not good enough for NZ.

I'm sure Ricki (or at least someone from NZF) got in touch with the NQF coaching/medical staff to see where he was at.  I do still think he has the abilty to be a quality All White and European pro for the future.

Is a sold New Zealand player, but i doubt much else.

Can understand why he wasn't picked. Howver, i am glad he's miffed, means he clearly wants to be involved and playing which is a great attitude to have.

I see this more as a positive than a negative.

It just goes to show how much depth the AW's have now, Look at the guys missing due to injury and then tell me if Chris James gets picked ahead of Brockie?.

With the guys that have missed out, you could put together a half decent AWs team.
