Played well against Ghana.  Ghana did well to only lose by one goal, Germany should really have won by two or three.

The most beautiful thing about the english is that they still take themselves seriously as a football nation.
My memory must be going on me, could please remind me what exactly you won when you beat us 5 - 1?
I've actually seen a guy wearing a t shirt commemorating that incredible achievement
I'm surprised you didnt mention 1966. Was that the last time you won anything? That might be 42 years ago.

I could take this thread down a road that its not meant to go down.

Should this thread be in the off topic section as a joke?

Here we go, Deutschland ber alles again.

Is it possible England could play Germany in the next round  of the U17's?

That would definately be worth seeing.

Now that would be an interesting game. On a day like today, the stadium would be quite full. The Germans so far have been quite efficient, almost quiet achievers. Definately the form team.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Not in the quarterfinals, but possibly in the semifinals.

But Germany will be playing at Wellington next Saturday, with some interesting other teams - Denmark, Japan who won 7-1 and possibly USA!

Should be well worth watching.

Germany, yes, they're locked in for Wellington. Pool B will also be represented by either Korea DPR or Ghana.

Pool A will be represented in Wellington. by two of Canada, Denmark, or Colombia. Format is A1 vs B2, B1 vs A2.

Japan play their quarterfinal in Hamilton, as well as the winner of USA vs France on Wednesday, and the top two out of Group D (England, Korea Republic, Nigeria, Brazil), all of which can qualify.

But yes, it will be well worth watching, no matter which teams make it

Japan to me seem to be emerging as the team most likely to challenge the Germans, England as dark horses maybe

England 1 Nigeria 0. You only need 2 shots if one of them goes in and you don't give any away

Nigeria are a pretty unique side in this tournament to, in that they are massive. Maybe because they are the team i've seen live but they have some big girls while the other teams are smaller and more technical.
Don't let your irrational hatred for England get in the way News

Yeah sorry got a bit confused with the complicated draw and venue changes.

Stiil Germany and Denmark will both be worth watching, with probably Korea DPR and Canada (?) in Wellington

Sad to admit it but your probably right, I'm hoping Nigeria can get to the next round and go all the way, but they've not been the mot convincing (having said that they should of pounded the poms).
Draw for the quaterfinals in Welly on Saturday is Denmark vs. Korea DPR at 1:00 and then Germany vs. Canada at 4:00, maybe I should wear something red then...

Japan to win.

Have seen two of their pool games live, so fast and fluid its a joy to watch. And tonight they beat Paraguay (admittedly not flash here) with their two brightest stars not even playing.

Germany were in Hamilton yesterday. Don't know if they changed their team a lot from previous games but they didn't do much against a reasonable Korean DPR side. A pretty even contest, but nothing special.

But Japan are just something else altogether.

Dszenifer Marozsan is absolute class. Would be interesting to track her career in years to come.

Is it possible for a Germany v Japan final??

Japan have a decent chance of winning but I'm hoping for a Danish victory.  Should be able to slaughter North Korea and at least beat England.

Wow, wasn't expecting that to happen. England out muscled the Japanese, and played a well structured game, not allowing the Japanese to play the way they had previously. Did their homework.

So Korea DPR v England and Germany v USA.
