Hi everyone,

Just wondering please if anybody can explain to me the difference between applying for tickets direct through Fifa and applying for tickets through the NZ Football link within the Fifa website (& the benefit of applying through either of these, if there is any).
I notice that if applying through the NZ Football link within FIFA, applications close on 13/01/2010 but when applying directly through FIFA, applications close on 22/01/2010. It also seems, if i am interpreting the gallons of information i have attempted to process over the past weeks, that the application process for the final 16, quarter finals, semis and final are different through these 2 application options.

Is anybody please able to clarify EXACTLY what the difference/s is/are and what the benefits are to applying via these different ways?

PROMPT responses would be highly appreciated!!! As time is of the essence and id like to have my application in prior to the 13th to be safe!!! (Ive read so much information over and over and am highly confused).

Many thanks in advance to anyone who is able to shed light on this topic.

Cheers

The NZ PMA (Participating Member Association) tickets are, I presume, where the 12% of tickets (or part thereof) allocated to NZ fans are distributed.  One would assume to get those tickets you need an NZ passport ("You must be...a resident or national of the Country for which you are applying").

This page gives the best info I can see:  https://pmatickets.fifa.com/Web/FAQ.aspx?Team=NZL  Explains that it's a separate application process from the Geneal one.  If you are after NZ tickets, I'd go through this site for them.  Seems to me that you'd have a better chance of getting them, and if you miss out you could try through the General application process.  This closes on the 13th Jan, and you get notfied at most 10 days after that.  The General applications close in Feb, IIRC, so you'd pretty much get a second chance.

So you'd have to apply for NZ tickets through that part of the website, and tickets for other games through the general Website.  Hope that helps.  I'm not 100% sure about this either, the email from NZF didn't really explain what it was about and some of the info is a bit vague.

Also, applying through FIFA you can go for a TST - team specific ticket - and the number indicates which games you'll go to.  3= pool games, 4= 3 plus Round of 16, 5= 4 + Quarter final, and so on.  I gather you get tickets, even if your team doesn't get to a specifc round.  Don't know how it picks the tickets though - assumes you'll finish top of your pool?  That I haven't been able to find an answer for.

Otherwise, instead of a TST you can just apply for specific tickets, but that's just through the general application process, which is where you can also apply for TSTs.  I'm probably not being as specific as you'd like, but you probably know as well as I how confusing it can be trying to figure out what's what!
