What a shame we (and Australia) miss out on this tour. I happened to be in Indonesia when it visited for the day, but to cut a long story short I wasn't in the mood for travelling for 4-5 hours from where I was (therefore 8-10 hours return), to one of the most chaotic cities in the world, and risk arriving but being refused entry for some reason (the entrance criteria were not published anywhere I could see). Indonesia is a law unto itself and I wasn't in the mood.

Turns out I should have made the trip for possibly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the actual World Cup trophy and have a photo taken with it (at a cost of $2.50).

I'm interested to know what hurdles you guys would have climbed for a chance to see and be photographed with the famous solid gold trophy?

I probably would have taken the trip is i was in your situation.

I would have given it a go at least.  Worse case scenario you get to see more of Indonesia (and possibly get murdered).

Didn't help I was returning to NZ in the early hours (4am) of the following morning. Also I think I was running short of money to make the trip (worse case scenario whore myself in Jakarta ha!). Wife would not have been impressed and I didn't pick this battle.

In hindsight I should have tried. Who would have guessed it would be so easy (Indonesia is always complicated...)

If it makes you feel any better I wouldn't have bothered either. 

I once saw the World Cup.
