That was also the closest we came to scoring all match.
This was also a Football Ferns team without the likes of CJ Bott, Macey Fraser, Rebekah Stott, Malia Steinmetz, Grace Wisnewski, Anna Leat, and with Katie Bowen only playing off the bench

Four of the 16 players involved in Ciudad Juárez didn't play in the first match, with the Ferns now travelling to Kansas City, Missouri, for a daunting clash with the United States on Wednesday (kickoff 1pm Thursday NZ time).
It was the second time in as many matches that an Esson error led to a goal, after she failed to collect the ball at an early corner in the first meeting between the two teams this month.

Wonder if they had a cringeworthy pre series "We. Are. Going. To. Beat. Portugal" press conference.

We must be battling at the moment to have Taylor captain
Founder
But maybe this is Longo's final Ferns match, that's why she has the armband ahead of Bowen and even Taylor (long term option).

We are good at picking up awards for not winning
I'd make them all watch the match replay many times,to see what USA did. Doesn't cost much money to do that, and the lessons were all there.
About 2.40 mins into the video.
You'd hope it's closer against the Matildas in November.

I get the idea of playing good teams to test yourselves, but we always get hammered against the USA and it's frankly a waste of time. Opposition like Australia and Japan far more worth because while they're going to beat us we can at least give them a go.
