From memory there is a Simpsons skit of a utopian world without lawyers.

I think Heraf should have input. To use an old saying, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

There are plenty of examples in this forum of posters who I think are complete fudgeing morons when it comes to football, but every once in a while, they come up with something where you go 'they've got a bloody good point' (and probably in return at me)

Herafs input may well be 99% useless but 1% may have something that helps. As Team NZ mantra was 'does it make the boat go faster?' If he has 1 bit that helps the team in the future, it should be taken into consideration.

The one thing that Martin said and also was attributed as a comment to Readings, the team had stagnated and when you ask 'what results do they have?' they have not really progressed and more plateaued. Maybe some feedback comes back that helps the team progress from Heraf and/or Martin.

wow $100k for a review.  Could this not be done a lot cheaper and quite possibly more accurately without the lawyer/s being involved?

In the grand scheme of things, $100k for this type of thing is on the cheaper side. And good luck getting a review done that at least in part looks at employment issues without having a lawyer involved.

I always find it hard to evaluate the ferns because they play mostly against top 20 sides so it's always difficult matches. Definitely does seem like some changes could well be needed moving forward, hopefully with a better and more respectful coach.

So we have to pay incompetent people to depart , rather than the reduce the $1.6m Affiliation Fees that NZ Football receives. Shame if that's the case

NZ Hearld say they didn't compare Heraf to Hitler

"The Herald's Chris Rattue referred to Heraf as 'Austrian football dictator' a day after he resigned from his roles with New Zealand Football. No comparisons were made with Hitler by the Herald."

Must have been a reference to that other famous Austrian dictator then................

^ True enough although the ERA have shown a lot of sense in recent times and have awarded little or no payouts to employees who were justifiably dismissed where due process wasn't always followed.

outrage? WTF you on about?

just pointing out that despite the NZ Herald saying they never compared Heraf to Hitler it's pretty clear where he got the idea they had from

So if he was Australian and called an Australian football dictator, would there be any commentary.........?

Outrage for the sake of it.

He was not accused of hurting anyone, killing anything, just being a dictator... and his nationality was referenced.

I'm pretty sure that Rattue is smart enough to know the implications of the words he was using, and enough of a troll to be doing so on purpose. But Heraf needs to take a spoon of concrete and harden up.

It's not as if they're equivalent terms, one is clearly more loaded than other. But yes, it's nothing more than a storm in a teacup, although a couple of things that Heraf was quoted as saying in that article did resonate with me.

Ignoring that I agree on his views of the Ferns, they too could do with something to harden them up.

I may be being a little bit slow here and behind developments

But

Didnt this "let's call him a dictator for want of a better word" get a nice juicy settlement package in the hundreds of thousands from NZ Football to piss off?

And that money surely would have been paid on the basis that he goes nice and quietly, no threatening behaviour, no court action, no jumping up and down in the media

And now this.

What's the story?

But if Heraf himself is a fragile little snowflake, what would he know about hardening up?

Heraf is clearly a tosser of the first degree, most of us would agree surely. But what worries me is how he was appointed in the first place, considering hes clearly a tosser of the first degree, and his dictatorial approach is clearly in conflict with NZF's defined inclusive approach. Effing incompetence is all I can think of.

I find this from Ella Reilly in The Guardian depressing, but sadly not surprising.

Five candidates applying to coach the Ferns:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/nz-teams/10...

My money would be on either former Matildas and USA coach Tom Sermanni or Czech woman Klipkova.

Both have lived in NZ before, Klipkova briefly taking our u-17's a few years ago, while Scottish-born Sermanni played for Christchurch United in our national league in the early 1980's.

Sermanni has most recently been coaching Orlando Pride in the National Women's Soccer League in the USA 2015 -2017, a side including some of the best female players in the world like Marta and Alex Morgan.
