Ugh.

By flip flopping the way she has, in my opinion, it destroys her credibility. She made a stance that NZF was shark, left, came back, left again and now back?

Great footballer but just stand for your own position.

Still graet to have her back in world cup year.

Would you say the same about Tommy Smith for the All Whites ? Flip flopping and choosing not to be available for the national team on numerous occasions.

I believe I did and so did a few others. I was critical of Hudson for kow-towing to him. In this case, its a new coach so perhaps that changes things a little, but not much.

Couldn't disagree more. She (rightfully) left out of disgust with Heraf. He's gone and we can welcome our best player, a world class defender, back with open arms. NZF has also shown willingness to address the issues raised - changing an opinion when circumstances change isn't something to be ridiculed, its something to be admired.

I don't think anyone gives two sharks about her "credibility", she's a football player, credibility means nothing.

You create your credibility when you are on the pitch and the training ground. She is credible.

yes - in that Erceg came out and said why she was quitting and made a stance, Nelsen just said he was injured and didn't tell anyone of his issues until years later

True but while it went unsaid, we knew what it was about.

With Hern and Wilkinson out injuried. Who is going to score the goals for the ferns?. We have struggled to score against the bigger teams of late. Good chance for the younger strikers to make claim for world cup starting spot. Great opportunity for the likes of White, Kette, Phillips. Hope one of them really steps up and takes this chance.

Who are our CAM options? Hassett, Rolston, White, Longo, maybe Steinmetz? Not a fan of Hassett

Playing Argentina right now, 0-0 at 32 minutes. Our attacking is dire, we seem to think long balls are the best idea even when we're on the break and all our attackers are 5 metres behind the defensive line. Albeit, we're doing okay, have most of the ball and most of the attacks

Watched about 60 mins of the Matildas game. The Aussies could have won by more than 2-0, clear NZ handball in the box missed for starters.

Thought Hassett had an incredibly poor first touch. Longo didn't impress much either.

If they are the best midfielders the FFs have, then not surprised they play a bit of route 1 to be honest.

Doesn't Longo play club football in Christchurch? Must be a massive jump to the international level.

Sermani is a very experienced coach in the women's game. If he can't get them to a higher level come the World Cup, then well maybe this is the best they can be.

Admittedly two first choice strikers are currently injured.

Heard in the commentary of the Matildas game, that Sermani didn't know post Heraf debacle that the FFs job was vacant. Ali Riley rang him up, and urged him to apply.

Cleverley seems slick, liked the look of her when she came on. Hope she gets a look in, very similar to Longo. Our passing was terrible otherwise. Still very happy with the result however with a jointed attack we should have had more!

with our A team out there rather than the B team we would have had more, Sermanni using the games as they should be to try out different things and give experience to players

The Korea game will probably be back to a team similar to the line up against Australia, and it will be a much more difficult game, think Korea will win

From this week's Flying Kiwis. The more things change the more they stay the same!

Ali Riley: “During my senior year of high school my dad, who is from New Zealand, saw a news article that said Australia’s men’s team was leaving the Oceania confederation to join the Asia confederation. Why did that matter? Australia were doing it because the Asia confederation had more guaranteed World Cup spots. Oceania, on the other hand, only had half a spot. Even if you won the World Cup qualifiers, you would still have to go for a playoff to make it through to the tournament.

Of course at that time, they took the women’s team with them, which left New Zealand with a real chance to get through to the World Cup in the Oceania confederation, and it just so happened that New Zealand were looking to invest in their women’s football team. My dad saw this (I don’t know how, given that we lived in LA!) and emailed the coach of the New Zealand national team saying, “Hey, my daughter is eligible to play for you.”

No one got back to him for a while, but months later John Herdman – who was appointed the coach – was checking through old emails and found the email from my Dad! He replied saying, ‘great we need as many players as we can get!’ We sent a DVD over to him, and the next thing I knew I was being invited to go and play in a couple of friendly matches before the Under-20 World Cup in Australia in the spring.”

Ferns battled hard, but couldn't hold on in the end. Feels like they have alot of work to do. Had some good periods in the game, but playing out from the back was scary at times, and seeing them pass the ball back to GK from attacking free kicks was disappointing. Still struggling to score goals. None of the strikers really took this chance to cement there place in the WC squad. White and Satchell maybe.

Still I thought they showed improvement through the tournament, battled hard in true nz style. Sermanni will have a good idea on what he needs to work.

What is the use of Satchell's pace if you haven't got the skills to go with it? Get Rolston in.

Sad in a way her father didn't have confidence in her.
