Very well done to the women in those three results, what an excellent last 12 months for New Zealand football, everything going right ... I have belief that the women will take Canada out, just wish I could see it on TV, but then again, a feed from Cyprus probably is hard to obtain

Halbergs take note? Theyre going top of the world here effectively,possibly winning something,and its a much bigger sport than rowing or netball.
But could they give it to them after snubbing the AWs? Interesting indeed...Im guessing it wont even be recognised. Still a year away,there has been no coverage of it at all,itll just slip under the radar.

Interesting that we got so badly pumped by Australia but then did so well againt teams that are ranked comparitively. Maybe it is a mental thing v the Aussies.

To be totally fair to Sky, I have no idea and that could very well be the case. I've tried looking on YouTube this morning for highlights but to no avail. Off topic but is this why we wont see the AW european games also?

Unfortunately, there is no TV coverage anywhere in the world of either the Cyprus Cup or the Algarve Cup, which is also taking place in Portugal at present and boasts a rather tasty final in USA v Germany. I wouldn't mind seeing that fixture, either.
Oska, the Aussies were at full strength - they were their first games of the year, as they commenced preparations for the Asian Cup, which is taking place in China in May. They are playing North Korea in Brisbane tonight and again on Saturday for the same reason.
Bopman, I don't think it's completely a mental thing, although I'm sure that's part of it. When you haven't beaten someone since October 1994, the mental side of things is bound to be a factor.
Believe it or not, I think playing on home soil is a bit of an issue, in part because the girls do so so infrequently - they're so used to playing on the road, and do so far better than they do here. They become a really tight unit on their travels, and don't have any of the potential distractions which a home series can boast.
Witness, for example, the clash between the Matildas and the FFs at North Sydney Oval in July 2008. We played them off the park, and would have scored four or five had fortune favoured us, yet those West Island sods prevailed 1-0.
Virtually all of the girls' best results have been recorded on the road. Just as well, really, because by and large, it's not financially viable to have the girls playing on home soil. Hence the rarity of such fixtures.
The girls are playing NZ's 146th "A' international in women's football tonight, only 26 of which have been in NZ. Of those, seven have been won, and six drawn - we've lost the rest! :-((
The next Football Ferns matches after the Cyprus Cup are currently scheduled in October - the OFC Women's World Cup qualifiers on the North Harbour Stadium Tigerturf. Depending on entries from the island nations, that could see us play our 150th international here.
Personally, I'd like to see a special effort made to mark that milestone - NZ v USA or Germany would be a most fitting fixture, with invitations extended to all former Football Ferns to attend the match, in appreciation of their contribution along the way towards game 150.
I know the USA are keen to play here, having hosted us a few times in recent years. But whether such a showpiece fixture fits in with the masterplan which is in place for the girls is another matter - that's more important, from an overall perspective, than any one-off event which has been arranged simply to mark a milestone in NZ women's football.

Good goal but again just like our mens team we see our defence and midfielders backing away from the ball and giving the other team to much room, we have to sort this out.
Still a top class effort from the ladies, congratulations on getting to the final, now on to the world cup and hopefully get into the 1/4 finals (or further)
