Futsal Fern thread to distinguish from FutsalWhites which is mainly men’s side.
Not sure we need specific thread for current event as even the FutsalWhites thread is only up to 5 pages, but let’s see how it goes.

Tonga tend to be a "turn up" nation at these tournaments - they always enter but are rarely competitive

About to kick off against Fiji - should be an interesting game as Fiji are probably the best of the rest (beat Tahiti who beat the Solomons).

Goals from our 10-0 win against Tonga

Looks like this tournament will be a total cruise for NZ - up 5-0 at half time.

Commentary mentioned that no other team in this tournament had even played a full women's futsal international before, and that a few of Fijis team are quite prominent in women's football. Our side however are much more futsal specialists including multiple playing overseas.

We'll definitely need to have more non-OFC matches in the leadup towards the 2025 World Cup.

Today's match result - NZ 6 v Tahihi 1.  So we're into the final which I think is on Sunday.

Is there a strong Futsal culture in Japan?

Watching their womens U20 team today, you get the feeling they have played alot of small field 5/6 aside as youngsters.

Re U20s Quite possibly, my understanding is that Futsal is rather big & growing. Players are very quick
