NZ National Futsal Team To Take-on Australia In Friendly.
The NZ National Futsal team, the Futsallwhites take-on their Tasman
rivals, the Futsalroos on Saturday 3rd May at the Dural Leisure
Centre, NSW, Australia.
It will be the first time the two sides have met since the Oceania
qualifiers in Canberra 2004 with Australia winning 4-0. The weekends
clash sees only two players survive that encounter with many of the NZ
squad making their international debuts including Assyrian-born
Wellingtonian, Victor Zaia. 28 year old Zaia is a member of NZ
National Futsal Champions, Capital Futsal and is looking forward to
the challenge ahead. It will also be the first game in charge for
Australian coach, Broderick Crighton.
Crighton will select from the twelve travelling players with some
unavailable due to injury and work commitments.
The following day the Futsallwhites play Sydney Magic and the trip
includes games against four club sides from Wollongong. It will be a
tough schedule but one which shall prove to be invaluable for Crighton
in finalising and naming his squad for the upcoming OFC Qualifiers.
The Qualifiers are to be held in June (8 - 14) at the Vodafone Arena,
Suva, Fiji. Along with their Fijian hosts , the Futsallwhites will
face New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. The
tournament will be a round-robin based on a league format. With
Australia now in the Asian Confederation, the winner earns the right
to go directly to represent Oceania at the FIFA Futsal World Cup in
Brazil later in the year.

I think the YF team should be representing NZ - we kicked the ass of Capital Futsal at the brazilian day last year
All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Yeah I hope to report the latest news/scores/scorers/line-ups etc as they happen. So keep watching and thanks for your interest.
By the way, do you like the name, Futsallwhites? I am not sure it rolls off the tongue quite so easily. I like the concept behind it, though!
I would be interested to know what others think of the name for our national futsal team.

Well my memory must be going! So we shall leave it there, onto something more constructive, what do you think of the name, Futsallwhites?

I like the name and Frankie is a muppet... more than 5 I would have thought.
Saw Batty today Frankie, doing his doting father routine... seemed pretty proud all in all.

Thanks for the feedback on the name. The more I think about it, yeah, the more I like it - it grows on you.
Vic is the only local who has gone to Australia. 5 local guys made the original 24 man train-on squad selected after the National Tournament. Brod, the new coach is yet to select his final 12 for Fiji so there might be more locals selected.
Lucas needs to be naturalised and this would urgently need to be fast-track by the powers-that-be. If the Futsallwhites win the Oceania qualifiers then things might move a lot faster but at the moment blame the red tape. Lucas would make quite a nice addition to the Futsallwhites after all he is Brasilian!

Vic was the only one to make it from Wellington???
That is bollocks. Capital Futsal are national champions. We would easily beat the New Zealand team.
Bloody Auckland politics.

Vic was the only Wgtn player available to go over to Sydney this weekend. The final 12 man squad has not been selected yet. The games over the weekend (4 warm-up games then Australia tonight and Sydney Magic tomorrow) will give Brod (the coach) a good indication of who is up to the international standard or not and just who will finally be on the plane to Fiji. I think there will be more from the Capital Futsal in the final 12 man squad to the Oceania Qualifiers.
Stay tuned for results from Sydney.
Politics, certainly local/national parochialism will always raise it's head when selecting national teams.

If you get all five players to stand across the front of your goal, what do you expect.

(Watch for the same tactic tomorrow at Rongotai, we're missing a few).

CCF, any idea what happened in the Aussie-NZ match?

Yeah. I am in the process of doing a press release/report from the game. I am still waiting to hear back from Sydney for preview of today's games.
But I can tell you the score was 12-2 to Australia. (Wayne) Bates and (Alex) Birdsall scored for the Futsallwhites.
Stay tuned for further updates as I have the results from the two warm-up games earlier in the day.

Here are the official results/stats from the Futsallwhites 2 day trip to Sydney over the weekend. To confirm, I have it on good authority ( the ref!) that the official score between the Qantas Futsalroos and the Futsallwhites was 11-2 and not 12-2 as previously mentioned and 13-2 which the Australian FA announced on their website! - "Same old Aussie's, always cheating!".
There is another weekend of futsal action for the squad this weekend in Akl. A team is coming over from Australia and I suspect the final 12 man squad will be selected after that.
