Exciting and good preparation for the World Cup, will be interesting to check this out.

If we can get 2-3 wins that would be good omens for the World Cup, as apart from the hosts all seem pretty winnable games

Nice little article...
I love the Expat tales on Stuff, and this time they have a Futsalwhite talking about his experience living and playing in Portugal.

Not good signs for their World Cup. 2 big losses in 2 games.

I think they have world no 2 Spain (Brazil is no 1) in their WC pool. Could be a really ugly result.

Sometimes just looking at the scorelines doesn't tell the story... they were competitive for most of the game against Guatemala and against Afghanistan.

Obviously conceding a bunch of late goals is concerning (and happened against Morocco too) but let's not ignore that they were ahead/level/within one goal for most of these games.

Going off pre tourney results, very low expectations. The result against Spain, will likely be a blow out.

Libya tonight probably our best chance of a result. Spain and Kazakhstan will be very tough.

Of course it is our first ever World Cup at this level - there would be no shame in coming home with 0pts

Down 1 nil.  Second period about to start.  Good number of kiwi supporters.  Be nice to score a goal at least.

Spain only drew their first game against Kazakhstan 1-1.

NZ's Hamish Grey plays in Spain.

Great effort to be 1-1 at HT, against the World no 3.
But seems a trend to fall away in the 2nd half of games. Full time professionals just fitter?

And spot the other Paulsen.

Gaining plenty of interest in this thread...
Futsal is it a younger generation thing?

I'm no coach but in many countries Futsal or 5/6 aside is considered hugely important for player development. I've read that alot of Uruguay's historical football success for a small country is attributed to their strong futsal culture.

Ouch.

Ouch indeed - Kazakhs were playing with a flying keeper most of the game, trying to outscore Spain by enough to top the group and get a favourable RO16 opponent.

Funnily enough with the Spaniards winning 8-0 against Libya that still didn't come to fruition.
