Nice work with everyone in Auckland that went to the game. To bad the girls couldn't pull off a win. Over 14k just hope Wellington can top that. N.Stewart2008-10-28 21:04:04

Was decent atmosphere. No chants but that's expected with such a diverse crowd.

Its no longer a problem.

They adjusted it to 13100 Tegal.

Have not organised things for next week.  This week we're about getting people to Thursday's long lunch.

Great crowd for possibly the most insignificant tournament in international football. (well, as perceived by most people anyway)

Ah i see that is a great effort.

Is our game at midday? Thats not so good...hard to top auckland when they have the better kickoff time by far

Is good for me though...means can actually go to the game

I think it was meant to be 4pm, but has been moved to 7pm now. I repeat, I think, not 100% on that.

Auckland are getting at least 5,000 in for tomorrow's midday game from various schools around the city.

Might be hard for Welly to top that.

Three for me, and two for them.

Great effort Auckland, glad to see JAFA-land come to the party. Here's hoping for a sellout for the final - I'll do my part to help!

They reckon they have 6-10k from schools for the England vs Brazil game.  SO sounds promising.

If we can get crowds in like that for all the games the sport as a whole takes a HUGE leap.

I dont get it, why do Aucklanders turn out for the U17 womens world cup (Im not being direspectful here) and not for the qualifiers where our team has the best chance of getting through since 82 (And it ryhmes)

Publicity, Marketing, Free Tickets, the fact that it's the World Cup finals and is the first of it's kind.

Anyway what qualifying matches have we had here anyway?

Three for me, and two for them.

The official crowd figure is 13,123.

Some comparisons for you with recent fixtures and a similar game in history:
Opening game of NZ'99 at NHS, NZ v. USA - 14,103 (980 more - they've since emigrated!!)

Wellington Phoenix v. Queensland Roar on Sunday - 6543 (best this season is 10,516)

All Whites v. New Caledonia at NHS in September - 6500

Football Ferns v. Canada (game 1) at NHS in June 2007 - 5000

Cheers,

i wonder if the crowd would've been bigger if it was an under 15 tournament, or under 9s...
I like tautologies because I like them.

10,795 according to FIFA. Significantly less for Korea v Nigeria... thats what happens when you schedule a game at 3pm though.aussienixfan2008-10-30 18:07:35

Hi all,

705 for the KOR v. NIG game - I counted them!

An eighth of that tally was the Korean community with their bloody drums! I'm glad they moved to the sunny side of the street in the second half, because the noise they were making meant it was impossible to hear people's questions in the media booth!

Cheers,
