Michael Brown had a really good feature in today's Herald on Sunday in which he had tracked down every Kiwi making a living out of playing footy around the globe.

Thought it was a great article, kind of depressing that for so many of them however it said at the end of the blurb "will not/unlikely to play for NZ because of x,y,z" but still quality!

I went to the QPR versus Plymouth game in the weekend, and Rory Fallon came off the bench for the Pilgrims.  I was trying to work out why he is ineligible for NZ - he can't have played England Under 19's, could he? 

yeah he played age group for england im pretty sure

I'm almost certain  Rory was involved in the failed bid by England to qualify for the 1999 under 17 world cup held here.

he played u19 for england, he chose to skip nz u 17 when it was here to make england. he didnt and nor did they but then he made eng under19

He could have changed nationality still after that as long as he did it by age 21, which he did not

Hi mate I was there too.  Yeah Rory played for England at U19 level.  He had the option to swap nationalities but rated himself good enough to play for England one day so missed the deadline to change nationalities.

He's been a bit up and down for Argyle this season although during a reserve match last week against Swansea knocked two goals in during a 6-2 white wash of that team.

It seems a strange decision to me - I am all for having faith in your own ability, but to turn your back on the AW's because you think that you have a chance to play for England seems mad to me.  I guess if he was getting picked in age grade teams, he fancied he could kick on but he would be a great option for us at the moment (Killen, Smeltz, Woods and Fallon as our strikers would provide some great selection headaches for Ricki).

Arguably has scored the best goal i have ever seen.

I think that switching rule wasn't in place and by the time it came in he was too old or something, I seem to remember him being a bit unlucky.

I can distincly remember the amount of NZ Media attention that was given to that goal, the sort of frenzy that only recently has become more frequent.

1 RORY FALLON
Plymouth Argyle (Championship)
Son of 1982 All Whites assistant coach Kevin Fallon, Rory started at Barnsley in 2000 before heading to Shrewsbury,Swindon, Yeovil, Swansea and Plymouth. Sadly for New  Zealand,the27-year-old striker can never turn out for the All Whites because he played junior internationals for England and didn�t switch to the country of his birth before he was aged 21.

2 CAMERON LINDSAY
Blackburn
The 16-year-old wasn�t short of options last year, choosing Blackburn Rovers ahead of Rangers and Everton largely because of Ryan Nelsen.The defender is a product of Wynton Rufer�s programme and the scale of his four-year contract is reportedly the largest signed by a teenage Kiwi footballer. Lindsay is currently playing for Blackburn�s under-18 side and last week he helped New Zealand qualify for this year�s Under-17 World Cup.

3 RYAN NELSEN
Blackburn (English Premier League) New Zealand�s best-known footballer and Blackburn Rovers captain and arguably New Zealand�s highest-paid sportsman, Nelsen earns a reported
$8 million a year. The 31-year-old central defender has now played 111 Premiership games (One goal) and will be an integral ?gure if the All Whites are to qualify for next year�s
World Cup. �The Admiral� was once described by former Blackburn boss Mark Hughes as his best buy.

4 TOMMY SMITH
Ipswich Town (Championship)
Smith played for New Zealand at under-16 and under-17 level but there are no guarantees he will play for the All Whites. He was born in England and played for them at the 2007 Under-17 World Cup. The 19- year-old defender has played only one match for Ipswich this season because of a broken ankle but recently signed a contract extension until 2012.

5 CHRIS WOOD
West Bromwich Albion
(English Premier League)
The 17-year-old striker made his Premiership debut a fortnight ago, coming on as a substitute in a 2-2 draw with Portsmouth to become only the ?fth New Zealander to play in the Premier League. He received the call-up after scoring a bucket load of goals at junior and reserve team level and was on the bench again last weekend for the relegation- threatened club.

Northampton Town (League 1)
The 18-year-old striker last year signed a two-year contract with Northampton Town and has been playing for their under-18 side.

The 22-year-old mid?elder/striker was born in Wellington but has opted to play for Scotland. He has played only once for Celtic, in 2005, and went on loan to Dunfermline in 2007-08.

Rangers
Milnadona, as he is sometimes known, had trials with Blackburn and Everton last year but opted for a one-year deal with Rangers. The 17-year-old mid?elder was born in Glasgow and last week helped New Zealand qualify for the Under-17 World Cup in Nigeria.

10 STEVEN OLD
Kilmarnock (Scottish Premier League)
Old recently signed a deal with Kilmarnock through to 2012. He was initially denied a work visa but won on appeal. The 23-year-old defender�s career hit a crossroads when he was released early from his contract with the Wellington Phoenix 12 months ago.

11 SAM HEEGAN
Rhyl (Welsh Premier League)
The 18-year-old mid?elder was born in Papua New Guinea but has New Zealand citizenship. He joined Rhyl last year after a stint with the Shrewsbury Town academy.

Former All White's defender who has played for Waterford United, Limerick FC, Barnsley, Frickley Athletic and the Football Kingz.

The 21-year-old seemed destined for a top career in England when he was with Fulham and played 31 junior internationals for England. But he struggled to ?nd another club in the UK

Club Roeselare
Born in the Cook Islands to a Cooks mother and a Belgian father, Bouckenooghe has plied his trade in Europe for the past 14 years, mainly in Belgium and was the ?rst Kiwi to play in the Belgian ?rst division. He now plays in the lower leagues. The 32-year-old has been transformed
from a mid?elder-striker into a defender, where he now plays for the All Whites.

DENMARK
15 WINSTON REID
FC Midtjylland (Danish Superliga)
New Zealand might not be able to claim Reid for much longer. The talented defender was born here but recently received Danish citizenship and has been a regular in Denmark junior national sides for some time. He has until his 21st birthday in July to pledge allegiance to New Zealand
or be lost to the All Whites forever.

Son of 1982 All White Dave Bright, Kris joined Panserraikos FC in January on a two and a half year deal. The 22-year-old All Whites striker ?rst came to prominence with the New Zealand Knights in 2005, when he played 12 games. He then landed a contract with Dutch Eerste Divisie club Fortuna Sittard in 2006 and Norwegian Division 2 club Kristiansund BK in 2007 before his move to Panserraikos.

Oughton was the 10th overall pick in the 2001 MLS Super Draft (top draft) and he has been with Columbus ever since, becoming the club�s longest serving player in the process. He�s now played 127 MLS games.

Son of former New Zealand wicketkeeper Ian Smith, Jarrod moved to Toronto in 2007 after he was the ?rst pick in the MLS Supplemental Draft (second tier). The footballing world seemed at Brockie�s feet when he burst on to the scene with the New Zealand Knights in 2005-06. His four goals in 12 games impressed Sydney FC enough to offer him a two-year contract but he was released after one and had to content himself with playing for Hawke�s Bay and Wellington in the NZFC. The 21-year-old striker has another chance in the A-League, having joined new club North Queensland for next season.

Where is Roddy Brown?

I really hope he hurries up and declairs himself for us.  I don't see him ever playing for England.  It would be sad if he ended up being another Fallon or McGlinchey.

Steven Jones and Jono Norman played in the SAL Reserve division for Polytechnic, although neither have been offered new contracts for next season.  Real concerns for Jones getting a new contract due to age, weight, lifestyle, pace, right foot, receeding hair line, travel card issues, and the fact that sometimes on a Saturday he likes to lie in bed and throw up in a bucket.
