Joe Gauci

Not 100% sure on his eligibility or whether we've missed the boat now, but Adelaide goalkeeper Joe Gauci lived in, and went to school in New Zealand for quite a few years during his childhood. Moved to Oz when he was 11 but spent several years previous to that in NZ.

Also played for Waiheke United in NZ at youth level. 

Unfortunately he made his full international debut for Australia against Ecuador last month, although not officially cap tied.

Matt Ryan is 31. The Grey Wiggle 34. Langerak & Vukovic retired from the Socceroos.

Gauci (age 22) could be their first choice keeper by 2026 WC.

The fact that he wasn't involved in the China series speaks volumes. Surely NZF have been in touch but looks like he's decided to go with the Socceroos.
Tough choice these days with the AWs all but assured WC qualification from now on. But then again, the Aussies have been doing really well on the WC front, so an understandable decision
