Jordan Match (now with Sky TV coverage)

Referee played woefully.  Couldn't believe it.  I mean yes, sneezing is an abomination and it needs to be stamped out of the game, but personally I wouldn't ping a player for blinking.  And as El Grap said, his arms were so hairy.  I was awfully impressed.

In the defence of the referee, although he was garbage he was consistent.

I was surprised Fallon didn't have his goal ruled out.  While there wasn't anything wrong with it there was far more contact made then than in other cases when free-kicks were awarded.

Was hilarious when that Jordanian went down like a sack of spuds and got in Elliots face and bellowed and Elliot then gave it strait back to him.  I lol'd.

Vicelich's red card was a farce and when Lolligan conceded a freekick for that tackle I just shook my head.  Was strong but fair.

Oh yeah, forgot to say, Paston played alright except that goal he conceded was terrible.  For those who argue he's better than Moss, watch that goal again then say it to my face without laughing.  I suspect you can't.

Don't ask me, they're really leaving it to the wire this time.. With the likes of the talent they have you wouldn't think it would be so hard to pull the trigger and finish for once.

Argentina in the sh*ts...losing 1-0 atm, and according to my cousin, nowhere to be seen on the pitch. Paraguay also hit the crossbar and the post.

90 mins +, still 1-0 Paraguay over Argentina

He "bought him off" - what did that set him back and is this because he was some kind of informant?

Also, who is this Fallen chap?

And, have you been to the Chump Elrich school of media training?

Meh.  My point still stands.

"but Paston made amends for his early misjudgement with a pair of sharp saves, including one off his face due more to sound positioning rather than sharp reflexes. " NZF

I hope there's a falcon replay out there waiting for me to see it.

You forgot to mention the high ball that came in and he almost missed completely, blamed the lights which must have been very low. Maybe a bigger howler than the Crowther blunder the other week. Goes close

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for that 'catch'.  The Crowther one, though, just terrible.

You know what, I just watched it again (in the Phoenix shop...Tony, Granville does absolutely no work by the way)...and it took a nasty deflection off the end of the wall.  Paston had gone the right way and the ball came back the other way off the wall leaving him with not a lot of a chance.

So definitely a bit unlucky.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Most of the times the ref made a call I didn't agree with I didnt get angry, I just laughed. Laughed because some of the calls were ridiculous.

So you weren't laughing because of his ridiculously hairy arms?

Both 1 and 3 news had articles on the news tonight, so you should be able to see them online.  Coverage of the NZ game, plus some of the Bahrain game, and then other qualifiers in Europe.  Third article on both channels, not bad considering.

You'll only get goals, though, not a proper higlights package.

Just had a peek and at 9:00 tonight there's a highlights package on Sky Highlights channel.

To the people who think Moss is so much better then Paston. What would of Moss done in that game that was so much better?

He swore at a ref during the los to Fiji, and copped a four-game ban.  He'll miss the two games against Bahrain, and the next two games in WC pools (slight assumption in there, see if you can pick it).  I dug you up an article

I would be very surprised if Moss was in the WC squad at all let alone first team. He hasn't earnt his way into the squad. Not to mention Paston is more then enough and is indeed better then Moss.

I must admit that 4 match ban is so harsh though.

How can you say Moss "hasn't earnt his way into the squad?" He was outstanding for the Phoenx, he was outstanding for the All Whites at the Confed Cup, he has assumed the number one spot at Melbourne and has been playing well.

It is a significant loss that he isnt available for the squad for the qualifiers. He is a damn good keeper.

Ill just say the answer to that question is fairly simple...

He would have stopped Jordan's goal.

So you are telling me before this match you thought Paston was going to concede a goal like that?

It was a simple mistake, a one-off, could of happened to anyone.

Hang on.

Im not telling you anything about what I thought before, after or during the game.

I am answering your question - is there one thing Moss would have done better? Yes, he would have saved the goal.

I am being serious. The fact you think it is impossible for Moss to make one-off mistakes is laughable and bordering on obsession.

When do you guys think Real Madrid will sign Moss guys? You know they are making a second galactico so they would be crazy to not include Moss based on what you football experts think.

Paston is not terrible. He does make some mistakes that I would not imagine seeing from Moss*, but I also look at Moss with slightly rose-tinted glasses - ever since the Brazil game when he saved 4-0 from being 8-0 (no, not really exaggerating).  Paston, however, is still doing well for the Phoenix and will hold his own, and appears to be improving.  We also have no alternatives worth considering, which must speak somewhat for Paston's abilities

*foremost was an incident at the RoF last weekend, when the ball deflected off someone and high into the air, right in the middle of teh penalty area.  Paston took a tentative step forwards, then another, then retreated towards the goal and, as best I can tell, hoped for the best.  That ball needed a good punching away.

chchnix - Ahmad Zaoui, and I didn't get a close enough look. I have no doubt Zaoui could have refereed the match with similar ability.

Are you related to him or something? Honestly even the most one eyed supporter can see Paston didn't have a great game today. Lets take Moss out of this completely... Paston still showed two moments of complete incompetence- the goal and his 'catch'. What if that was the qualifer and that goal sealed Bahrain's passage?
