None too happy over here in Cardiff.Killen used us to get a place in Celtic's reserve side.No way will he play in Champions League.Sorry to disillusion you but he just won't cut the mustard in Europe.

So we hear. Can you blame him for going to Celtic? Bit of a no brainer really. At the end money and opportunity talks. I can understand why Cardiff would be dissappointed. Remember he was the top scorer in the spl for Hibs before he was injured. Your point about the champions league is a valid one. sanday2007-06-03 12:27:35

He shoulds get game time in the league when they are playing Champs Lge at least. Who cares that he shafted Cardiff. Clubs are the first ones to shaft their players so good on him for looking out for number one.

Look, from a NZ team point of view who would you like playing for your side?Someone whose butt  is keeping the sub's bench warm or someone who is playing regular football in a league where the standard is consistently higher than the SPL.To quote a certain Mr Killen it's a no brainer.

Probably the league with the highest profile - as that is what NZ football needs. Don't write him off as not getting game time just yet.

Good points. But you are assuming he won`t play a lot at Celtic. Time will tell. The chance to play at Celtic just can`t be turned down. He will be in our team no matter where he is playing. He is our best striker by a long way.

Which is the Championship, Cardiff City's League. This league get's far more coverage on Sky than the SPL.You have got to understand that Killen is playing in a fairly minor league .OK Rangers and Celtic always qualify for Europe but Killen will not be part of that, unless there is an injury crisis.
I'd imagine that accepting a bit part at Celtic will suit Killen more,as he has a glass hamstring and playing a full season in a competitive league would have found him out.I suggest you look at Hibernians website to see what their fans think of Killen,it does'nt make pretty reading.I think we have probably been fortunate at Cardiff he did'nt sign for us.l

So why did you try to sign him then? So now you are happy he will not play for you and i am  also happy he is at Celtic. Sixteen goals from twenty five league games at Hibs (edit). Shocking record. Good luck next year. Good to see you on yellow fever. sanday2007-06-03 13:47:06

Nice to speak to you mate.
He wouldn't have been my choice but our manager obviously rated him.Our messageboard on Cardiff City Online (unofficial) has some interesting posts over the last few weeks on this subject.
By the way can I get hold of your club shirt in the UK?

Not available yet. Keep an eye on yellow fever. I don`t think it will be available for a couple of months. Can`t see it being available in the U.K.

Killen is the type of player that seizes any opportunity he gets - he hasn't gone to Celtic to warm the bench (well maybe initially).  The prospect of joining Celtic no matter what his involvement will be was just too big to turn down - am sure he was serious about Cardiff until Celtic rang....thats football!
He will go from strength to strength at Celtic and don't be suprised to see him paying him playing some Champions League football before the season is out.  Some players take their few chances well and CK will rise to the occassion!

His transfer made bigger news in N.Z  because he went to Celtic. It wouldn`t have made the same impact if he went to Cardiff.

Exactly. Well put Feverish.

And if the Cardiff fans didn't think Killen was all that good then there wouldn't be all this fuss.

Bit of a mixed message that one! Probably a good thing CCFC's gone to bed before he disappeared up his own back passage. The championship have a higher profile than the SPL? - Cardiff have a higher profile than Celtic? - get over yourself man.
Killen will be fine, good on him for giving it a shot. I would have been disappointed if he had turned Celtic down to play in the Championship!

Good morning people, and good morning to Ronaldontknow.
Cardiff have a higher profile than Celtic? where did I say that?
I'm afraid my friend that the SPL does ,yes does have a LOWER profile than the Championship.Trust me on this one I do live here.If he  had signed for Cardiff he may have had a chance of Premiership football.
I personally am glad he didn't because his last attempt in the English leagues with Oldham was not particularly inspiring. What I didn't like about him doing was using Cardiff to get a place in Celtic's reserve side. He's obviously happy to take the money while watching the first team from ths stands.I also reiterate what do you want from a NZ national team player?Someone playing regular football against decent teams or someone who has a knockabout against Falkirk reserves?

We want players in the highest league in whatever country they are playing in. I can understand that the SPL has a lower profile than The Championship in England but that is not the case here. I didn't say that you said Cardiff had a higher profile than Celtic, I thought that was what you were implying. Maybe the Celtic reserves are better than Cardiffs reserves and if Killen is as bad as you say then he probably thought he would prefer Celtics reserves to yours, but I personally think he has the attitude to make a go of it.

Our reserves hardly play  mate.I just think that he would be better off playing 1st team football,as is any player.    What's really annoyed City fans is Killen saying publicly how he really want's to play for us and after the club fly him down to Cardiff for his medical and agreeing personal terms he does the dirty.
We will follow his Celtic career with interest and with a certain amount of morbid interest in any injuries he picks up.As they say "what goes around comes around"Karma will out!

Strangely enough I followed Michael Campbell around  on Thursday in the Wales Open.He played quite well tee to green but can't seem to putt at the moment.Shame really as I backed him @ 100/1 to win the tournament. He's now in 16th place 4 shots off the lead.

It is better for NZ Footballs profile and growth to have Killen at Celtic than Cardiff. There are a lot of people in NZ that wouldn't even know what league Cardiff is in, they probably also don't know what league Celtic play in; they do how ever know Celtic is a much better club in the footballing world.

It is  better for Killen - financially and basically the best chance of his footballing career. The risk vs reward for Killen is 'a no brainer'.

I live in London. The Championship is a lot bigger in media coverage here than the SPL. I would agree with "CCFC" about that one. Can't imagine NZ showing any coverage of SPL. They might show a bit more now that Killen is playing for Celtic though, although I guess they probably didn't when he was at Hibs; have to wait and see.

There would probably also be a risk that Killen would get some bench time at cardiff too at first. I am guessing he would get more game time at cardiff; so probably would have been fitter and more on form for future All Whites games; its up to Killen now to break into that Celtic starting XI.

I can understand Cardiff Manager and fans being pi55ed off; I would also think they would agree they can understand why he made his final decision and respect that.

Thanks for your input CCFC. Brave of you to put your two bits in.

If we build it, they will come...

If he went to cardiff it still would have been a steeping stone to a bigger club; ie Celtic.
Any half decent striker cardiff have had, has left. Cameron Jerome, Robbie Earnshaw and neither went to a club of Celtics stature.
Killens signed a 3 year contract and has the chance to impress.
Has a better chance of breaking into Celtics starting x1 than he did at Man City.
Be honest Ninian Park or Celtic, no brainer.
While playing against Falkirk and inverness arn;t the most attractive
Neither is colchester, Blackpool and scuny.

No mate if he went to Ninian Park it would have been a stepping stone to playing in a brand new stadium in the Premiership.....with Cardiff City.He would have also played alongside Michael Chopra the best striker in the Championship last season.
However Mr Killen has chosen to play in a sub standard league with a  club  that is only big  because  it has grown on the back of sectarian hatred, just as Rangers has.I fear  Mr Killen will  probably  be forgotten  by next season as he plays against Aberdeen reserves and to be honest  there will be many  Bluebird  fans  who  hope he falls flat on his  face. The man has no honour.
