the best thing that nz football can do  is to  create  a local based team  to play  some friendlies in the region vs oceania or asia  national teams  to  have more players  pool  and  to  provide  the  local  players  from nzfc  exposure and a shop window

players like  hayne coombes hogg  and spoonley  were great a  year ago at clubs world cup

that was one of the best things that maradona and bielsa were  doing for  argentina and chile  to  improve the talent and the motivation of the local  players

nz needs a step 2 situation now  and it is to increased the team  to create  competition for places

regards

from  argentina

That's pretty much what we did for our dead rubber match against Fiji IIRC.

A LEague are in the position to do it. A bit like American styles. A LEague NZ team, Aussie team, internationals, play exhibitions at end of season. QUestion is can they get the all whites shirt. Probably not. How much is that worth? If it is "A League NZ" is that enough for the public to want to watch? Would get McGliinchey and Brokie back!
Oh Wellington is wonderful. We got the wind, the rain and the phoenix. Oh Wellington is wonderful.

V good thought.  I'd also like to see a PI (Pacific Island) combination.  There are some excellent players out there.

Considering that there are less than 11 first choice Kiwi players in the A-League (isn't it just the Nix lads + Brockie, Kosta and Moss?) you'd have to go to the ASB Prem to get a full side.

The British leagues used to have a team picked from players playing in each country and called the League of Scotland team and League of England ETC.
This was selected from players playing in any league in that country.
Woulld be a good idea to get it started with an ASB league selection team playing a Phoenix selection as a charity shield type game at the end of the season.

As you mentioned more players getting the chance to show at a higher level would be good for the game and the younger players coming along.
