Reading the Sunday Star Times article about Seatter suggesting the re-schedules match could be played in Australia, I'm sure I remember Winston Peters saying that Australia has the same visa rules as NZ about Fiji.
So I'd be interested to see if the match does get the go ahead to be played in Aus.

I also read somewhere that FIFA rules said we had to play in one of the Oceana countries. Australia is in Asian confederation.

If we build it, they will come...

Noumea has also been mentioned. I was also wondering if it has to be played in Oceania. Seatts where are you?

Yes, Australia has informed us that they will have the same view as NZ in terms of visa applications. So, we are back in OFC. I think that Noumea may be the best bet. In terms of a date - our preference is June, as it is a new FIFA 5-day window, and Ricki likes the date in terms of the pre-season ytaining programme for his players. It also means that we do not push the qualifying competition beyond September, which keeps the October FIFA 5-day window as an option to play two games in Asia - hopefully the start of preparations for the World Cup qualifying competitoin

Thanks Graham

I'd like to have been a fly on the all meetings that must have taken place between NZ and Australian officials. I wonder whether the NZ Government had to ask Australia to take the same visa position? NZ would have been awfully embarrassed if the goalkeeper was permitted to enter Australia but not NZ (when we are supposed to have a common position re Fiji and Bainimarama). It would have highlighted the poor design, application and self-inflicting nature of NZ's policy.

It would be interesting to see the detail of Australia's immigration policy for Fijians to see whether they have applied exactly the same definition of "family" or whether they have had to interpret with a view to maintaining solidarity with NZ.

If anyone is sufficiently bored or enough of an immigration trainspotter that would be useful research.

So what are the chances of seeing the All Whites again before the re-scheduled match???

We've finally broken into the 100 in the rankings, surely someone would like to play us, even if it was an away game or a neutral game.

I see we are now ranked higher than jamica, who were at the last 2 world cups.

Sweet, now I don't have to try to re-learn first-year French. Samoa here I come, should I raise enough coinage.
