Killen.

Three for me, and two for them.

Not sure how Killen gets MOM for missing a load of chances?

Brockie was decent again IMO.

You must of missed the bit where he ran his arse off for the team for 90 minutes then.

Three for me, and two for them.

Dirk Kuyt runs his arse off for 90 mins... its nothing special.

He should have at least made the keeper work abit

No real stand out candidates for me. Gone for Elliott as composed on ball and work rate belies his age and current unemployed status. What do we need to do to get him at the nix? whatever it is do it!!

Thought Mcglinchey looked good at times and was at the heart of some good passing moves and Brockie had some good moments too.

The movement of the Paraguay team was stunning at times, this was quality opposition.

yeh. this. But if he plays another game like that (only saw the second half) and continues to play that way for NZ I think I'll have to be.

Particularly impressed at one point where he tracked back and made a tackle- Newcastle/NQF must be putting a work ethic into his game.

Him and Leo make a good attacking combo- just need some better finishing!

though McG has got some real class too.

Much happier watching the second half of the Paraguay game than I was watching the Honduras game...

I only saw the last 30 mins of the game via a rubbish Paraguayan stream where I could barely see the ball but even so it was clear to me that Siggy was putting his heart and soul into everything so I voted for him.

siggy was so bad, worst performance ive seen from him. At fault for both goals. Reid was also terrible.
And can leo learn to cross a flat ball, rather than just chip it in.

Brockie and killen were outstanding imothreat2010-10-12 23:44:08

Thought Siggy started strongly and played some nice balls forward, but the penalty was plain dumb and we should have been punished when he played half of the Paraguay team onside.

Can't agree with any positive comments re Bertos, first half he had a wealth of good possession and really squandered it consistently. Improved a little in the second half but really needed to!

Lil Mac for my vote. Brockie close second. Some great touches from both of them.

Killen had some great chances, squandered a lot. Worked hard with Wood to get something going, not happening on the night

Nelsen MOTM. Because without him our defence was an utter shambles. His absence influenced our performance so much it was ridiculous. Let's hope he never retires, or at least not until Reid and Smith are fully ready to step into his shoes.

Voted for Brockie, did bloody well today, as did Wee Mac.

Killen for me, he was everywhere. Unlucky not to hit the back of the net.

Brockie and 2ndhalf Weemac were also good.

Apparently Elliottt made himself available for a 10 game guest spot but Ricki turned him down. Can't understand that at all after watching both games. He is exactly what the Nix need in midfield.

Getting back to last nights game. I couldn't think of any stand outs. Some good displays though from Brockie, Bertos, Elliottt, McGlinchy and Wood. As for Killen, I thought he was crap. No pace. Was totally overshadowed by Woodzee.

curious about how killen caught the eye. one good volley doesnt make a game. I havent seen the replay but i thought he squanderd a couple of good opportunities and was otherwise competent without standing out.

Killen motm - was a work horse all night.

Vicelich and Elliottt looked good also.

Really impressed with Clapham when he came on, and Wee Mac improved in the 2nd spell after a pretty dire first half.

Thought Reid was sh*t - needs to get back to basics. On that performance I hope he keeps playing reserves at West Ham.

Wow, I thought Killen was absolutely awful with all those chances he missed. Turns out I may not be the best at judging the entire game from the stands rather than on the tele.

Can someone start a player ratings thread?

So you missed his hard work all game too huh.

Elliott - ran his arse off and distributed the ball well.

Bertos - really starting to get on my nerve...how many times is he 1 on 1 with a player, then waits for the 2nd or even 3rd player to come over before either trying to take them all on,or passing it back to the keeper.

Allegedly

Don't know if those dismissing Killen were at the game and haven't yet seen the replay, or were just watching another game to me.  He did an absolute power of work, his touch was fantastic all night, had a hand in most of our opportunities (and also managed to squander most of them to be fair).

Went for him as MOM, but was very impressed with Brockie (and I am definitely not a fan!), and with McGlinchey's 2nd half once he settled down (he gave away a sh*tload of ball early in the first half - but showed that he could probably take over Elliottts distribution role when he calls it quits).

I was at the game and thought Killen was in the right place at the right time a lot but shots weren't put away but at least there were shots from a decent placement.

Fully agree.  Terrible performance though he almost got a quality goal in the first half.

Wee Mac was great all night.  Was very impressed.

Well I thought Elliottt had an outstanding game (apart from his damn free kicks and corners that always find the first defender).

As for Killen, as many have said he did a sh*tload of work and tbh I think he ended up having to do too much because Brown was AWOL. The amount of ball Killen was winning in the midfield was rediculous.

-1.  You missed the back three marking one man.  RH is to blame for the midfield being outnumbered, not Tim Brown.

I thought he might have got a run the other night, everyone else did [just about]. There has to be something funny going on here surely?

After deeming Mulligan so inadequate that he gave the guy not one single minute of game time in the 2009-10 HAL season, how likely is it that RH would send Mulligan on in an international? Not very. Beats the hell out of me why RH even selects him for the All Whites if he has so little faith in him.
