First time i actually bothered to tune into to the radio here in the uk to follow Nelsen and Blackburn....and he gets a goal for me.

"1720: GOAL Blackburn 2-0 Wigan
Now there's something you don't see very often. Actually, it's never happened before. Benni McCarthy whips over a fabulous free-kick from the left and Ryan Nelsen, the Rovers captain, gets across the keeper and glances a header past Chris Kirkland and into the net. That is Nelsen's first Blackburn goal."

Great stuff Nelsen.

commentators just said it is his first goal for Blackburn after 141 games. they said was signed from DC for a 1,000. said he is known in blackburn as one of their best ever defenders.

they are up 2 -0 at the moment against Wigan. 25 mins to go.

I thought he had scored before but as you pointed out to me the other day he hadn't, this has made my day big time.

Cheers mate, a good goal it was as well.  He could have knocked the ball far off target with that flick on if he was a lesser footballer.

Yes it was a good goal, interesting to see that he appears to flick the ball from the left side of his head into the far side of the goal as opposed to into the near post, takes a bit of skill to get that right.

By the looks of the celebration he was a little bit chuffed with his goal.

"Blackburn captain Ryan Nelsen could hardly have picked a more perfect time to score his first Premier League goal as his side took a giant stride towards safety with a 2-0 victory over Wigan."

Er, they were already leading 1-0. What a commentary cliche!

Good on you for scoring, Ryan, you deserved it.
