New Zealand Men's U-17s

suggests then that our academies need to "let go" of players when they are younger. What age are the clubs looking at then if U17 is no longer the pathway? Or is it jut the tournament itself isn't what it was in terms of quality? 

Does anyone know when the 17s will be named or a squad? I heard there was a camp in april with all the NTC players from around nz. Wonder how that went and if any new talent came to the fore? 

They were training at MaCleans college in Auckland last sunday, Zoro looked like he was talking the ear off a group of players

There was a 3 day Training Camp in Auckland last week for Non-Auckland based players - ( & Yes, before some "Mainlanders" grab their pitchforks & cry "conspiracy", some South Island players were involved ;-) ).

I heard that on the last day, the Training Camp players were split into A & B Teams & played a game against the Auckland based players A & B Teams.

Results:

Auckland based A 0 - 8 Non Auckland A

Auckland based B 2 - 0 Non Auckland B

Conspiracy!

I think the Auckland A & B were the other way around. Jordan Spain & Olly Whyte impressive for out of AK A

I didn't realise until now that India will be hosting the U-17 world cup in 2017. 

The Oceania tournament isn't until February, so I dare say any selection is a while off yet. 

I would say Hay will search high and low then put in the Sacred starting XI plus Arzan Toddawalla, Max Mata, Olly Whyte and Jordan Spain?

True. Just having a bath. Hay even gave the golden Nike ticket away to a western springs player - who has obviously not looked back - although several ❤ lads have won the ticket in the past. 

Incorrect. Propert, Woud, Imrie all went to Sacred, whilst Singh spent time there also.

Another training camp planned for 2nd week of School holidays - invited players from around the country plus 5 from Australia included . Not all from Auckland training squad invited though.

Auckland training group then restarts after holidays for a further 8 weeks

Thank you for this info. Always good to hear what is happening behind the scenes. I would personally love to see Arzan Toddywalla and Max Mata form a striking partnership - if they both make it into the squad.

Already qualified:  India.  And from Asia - Iran, Japan, Korea DPR have qualified for India 2017 by virtue of reaching the semi-finals of the 2016 AFC U-16 Championship.

The 2017 OFC U-17 Championship will be held in Tahiti in February 2017. The top two teams will qualify for India 2017.

The 2017 South American U-17 Football Championship will take place in March 2017. The top four teams will qualify for India 2017.

The 2017 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations will be played in Madagascar from 2 to 16 April 2017. The top four sides will qualify for India 2017.

The 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship will be played in Panama from 21 April to 7 May 2017. The top four teams will qualify for India 2017.

The 2017 UEFA European U-17 Championship will be hosted in Croatia from 3 to 19 May 2017. The top five teams will qualify for India 2017.

NZ u17's are currently beating Eastern Suburbs 1-0 courtesy to a Max Mata goal.

Willem Ebbinge (Phoenix Youth I think) scored the second. classy finish topping off an all round composed performance from him IMHO

Did Arzan Toddywalla get a run up front for the U17s?  Hoping he will kick on and partner Mata as a striking combo.

Saw him at half time with knee strapped up kicking the ball around, Not sure if he got on as I left mid way second half, but Max got on second  and looked good.

Any updates on how the Australian boys performed ??

but could be wrong - how did they go anyway compared to the local boys

4 aus, though GK Nick Milne orig SA and lived here until several years ago, looked good in in game v Suburbs. 1 holding mid Ollie Duncan who also did well (Brisbane Roar I think) not sure about the other 2 (1 sat on the bench for that game, the other 1 played WB first half). 

Also heard one was from Perth Glory.

How good is Max Mata?

Good enough to break team wellington's heart. after playing adults. u17 should go well for him.
