I honestly rate Danny Hay has a coach. IMO I think he should be the 20s coach, I just think he's better than Darren Bazeley. But that's only me

Well it appears that Bazeley was under instructions for the  20s on who to play and the style of play i.e. long ball crap. Hopefully Danny will not be under these instructions as there are some talented / promising players in the 17s.

Danny is a smart operator who will not bow down to senseless instruction from above. look what he managed to do with the last 17s after taking over and cleaning out. hard as nails on the kids but right up there with tactics and guile. I really like the idea of progression and after 2 campaigns with the 17s and Darren with the 20s, it would make sense to transition Danny up. After all , Darren is feeding at the Hudson trough too with the All whites

weren't danny (and chris) brought in ("taking over and cleaning out") to implement "instruction from above" (ie alignment)?

Yes, but if you recall, they played the pressing game as instructed, but played more through the middle than we saw with the 20s.

Danny has suggested that the U17boys do not play at NZSS nationals and focus on training camps only.

Has the official date of when the team departs been announced? I heard there is talk that the team flies out to start their WC Preparations something like less than 10 days after NZSS tournament!! Looking at the new tournament format of 7 games in 5 days it seems the sensible thing to do to protect the players. And in any case, its Secondary Schools football what are they getting out of it!? There are off to a bloody World Cup. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Danny Hay is a bully always has been always will be,he will get his way if this ruling from him gets the green light it will hurt St Kents big time they have a few players in this squad and Zorro's job depends on results because of all the money spent on scholarships.Interesting times ahead.Bully boy Danny to get his way.

Look at it from a kids perspective - do you want to play at the national tournament and possibly risk injury before the world cup and potentially your best chance at gaining a contract or getting noticed?

Its a no brainer - protect the players.

Agreed. This has been the NZF attitude in men's and women's football all decade. The joke mandate was keeping players out of nzss tournament in Sept to stay fresh for a national camp in april the next year in 2010-11. And some players bought into it and some coaches said get stuffed nzf. Players as always are in the middle. However;  more clear cut in this instance a world cup in weeks after nzss better go into cotton wool and give wellington colleges a chance to win :)

Zorro confirmed as Eastern Suburbs youth team coach for 2017 and then Danny's assistant in new year.

Players will be moving clubs to be in the Suburbs mix, where before it was to Springs to be with Neil Emblen and in U20's

Probably not so much at under-17s level.

U-20s in May named on 8th, first game was 22nd, so that's only two weeks out.

Probably the week of September 18th publicly

1 - 0 up over Auckland City after 1 minute.

3 - 1 up after 75 mins.

Impressive result so far, interested to see what the write up says, but Auckand is playing some of their better players with Tade scoring for them.

4-1 now. Auckland City were intending to give their whole squad a run, including the 6 new players

any news on new ACFC signings?

Saw a few ole boys in Auckland side tonight. The team looked better in first half, and defensively poor second. 17s looked good for the most part and took their chances well. Played the same team for all of first half and a large part of second. Kris bright up front for City got very little sent his way, they lacked precision in delivery. Looked like TAHW back from injury in second half.

Is Deeley any relation to Andy Deeley that played for Mt Wellington or Papatoetoe (or both) in the 80's?

Is not a son, at least, as his father is Steve: http://www.stuff.co.nz/timaru-herald/sport/80879064/deeley-heading-north-to-new-pastures

Cacace, Ebbinge, Whyte.

The Nix like to claim the Onehunga Sports ones as being part of the WPX SS too - Clark, Mata, Sinclair, van den Hoven, Curry.

Zac Jones the keeper is also in their ISPS Handa Premiership squad, so he may have joined the Nix academy (was at Olympic).

Conroy, Richards, Spragg are Western Springs kids - Richards via Hamilton.

Deeley at Grammar via Timaru

Spain at St Kents via Christchurch

Matt Jones from FC Twenty11 in Christchurch.

Just and Rogerson from Ole.

Palmer from Selwyn United in Canty.

Not sure if any of the Nix/Onehunga ones or Conroy have come from out of town to there.

No comments about the boys having to go to Hay or Zoricich's school to make the squad? Or has this simply been left out?

Hoping you're needling those that believe in such conspiracy theories. There's like 8 or 9 from their two schools (which are also two of the best football schools/programmes in the country's largest city) in the squad?
