Boring game, so much about playing attacking football etc promised by the coaching staff prior to the game.

We only ever looked like we were playing for the draw.

Happy we got through, but if anyone watched the last 10 mins of that game to see what the beautiful game is about will now watch rugby.

Horrible, horrible game.

yeah, the last 10 were not good to watch. Except that it was a NZ team that had put itself into a position to be able to play like that at the end of a game in order to progress to the next stage.- who'd of thunk it, huh?

Bring on the next round!

Enough with the negativity, we should be very proud of a 1-1-1 record against three very good teams

Not a good game to watch ove rthe last 15 minutes but one of the more mature Nz peformances I have seen. They knew that a draw would get them through so didn't do anything silly and just kept possesion for as long as they needed to.

I have been impressed with some of the players so far. The right back if he keeps developing is destined for a pro contract somewhere & the Keeper is going to be picked up by someone at somes stage, he is class.

Well done boys (and the coaching staff).

Agree. Rubbish football. Watch the media pore scorn on our football after that performance.

Heads would roll if that had been a rugby match.

well done to our lads, the sending off helped but we did well across the three games and now face a tough game whoever we end up playing (must admit niether Germany nor Mexico - in their den - appeal)

Got to say well down Kazakhstan for winning the group. They were my pick to finish bottom when at the start. Makes our first up win all the more impressive considering they went on to beat two very top teams. Go the Kazaks!

Japan

Just to clarify, as I saw other posts saying Mexico or Japan - winner of group B (Japan) plays against A/C/D 3, and since groups A and C are the ones from which third placed teams haven't qualified from, Japan plays the third placed team from our group. So they get either us or US.el grapadura2011-06-26 13:10:26

Meh, most rugby matches resemble the last 15 minutes of that game to me.

It was tactical football and thats was what we needed to play. The boys knew what they had to do and did it. If it was a one off game you would be right in complaining but this was a cup game and we did what we had to.

Funny how the memory blanks bad stuff out...

Pipe down? ha the funniest bit of muppetry I have read in here in ages was your "Its all down to Ramon" drivel. Actually come to think of it, most of your stuff in here is utter drivel, great comedy relief.

Yep. I then agreed with Smithy that others have brought plenty to the team setup as well, but think Ramon brings in a whole new perspective and different experience. You chose to overlook that and attack me personally though, so well done

It's choosing the lesser evil really. Both have been top class at this tournament.

Highlight for me was the Mexican crowd jeering the yanks through their national anthem, everytime they fouled one of us, everytime they took a goal kick and that red card. Oh and Ole'ing us when stringing together passes, that was awesome.
