Been looking at stats as the whistle seemed to blow for off sides a lot

Rogerson 8 times , Imrie 3 times , Probert 2 times. 2 others make up 15 offsides.

8 times? Got to ask serious questions about his learning capacity.

The be fair to him a lot were very tight, Syria were playing a high line and a few were just downright wrong. He should've learnt though.

With Paraguay giving all their bench a start, and conceding an early goal, NZ suddenly have a chance to finish second in the group and go through! Expecting 3 frontline players from Paraguay to be subbed on at half time. We're in with a sniff.

Kotahitanga. We are one.

Early days but a huge, massive difference so far. Keeping the ball, winning it back if we lose it. Wow.

France beating Syria now too so if it stays like this we finish second.

This is the first game of this tournament I've seen and we are looking pretty good IMO. Even if Paraguay are fielding a second string side you would still expect those players to be much better than our first choice.

Hope Paraguay keep their keeper on for the second half. With him in goal we can score plenty.

NZ really gone off the boil since scoring.

The little fella (Parker-Price?) doesn't really seem to offer much, lots of short balls not finding their targets

things swinging our way.  Agree with commentator, should be shooting more at this clown of a keeper.

Wonder why Singh hasn't started before, he's created a fair bit in a couple of minutes.

So do we still bag Hay and Zoro for being crap coaches if we win?

Holy shark WHAT a scoop chip by Sarpeet Singh!?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Have to give the whole group credit. Word is they were exhausted after the two games close together, but dug deep and some magic from the super sub Singh was always on the cards. Brazil next !

Singh looks promising.

The guy looks like he'd be blown away by a light wind but obviously has a whole lot of skill.

Anyway, great to finally have some positive NZ football news for what seems like the first time in a year..

Singh made a big difference when he came on....some good passes and vision, as well as that great dipping shot that hit the crossbar in the last minute....probably should be starting?

Hay and Zoro have made mistakes at this tournament but it is their first - it's a learning process for them as much as the players. Still think their keeper was the difference between us progressing or not - he was awful. Liam Williams was outstanding for us. McGarry too. Imrie took his goal very well but the keeper allowed him to. Sarpreet Singh must start vs Brazil, he's an outstanding player.

Pretty lucky the U20s did get through considering we fielded an ineligible player.

Came into thread after we qualified for 2nd round so I could read about our tournament... had to trawl through pages and pages of people explaining in great detail why we are so sh*t...

Win when we're Singhing, we only win when we're Singhing! Excellent contribution from him. Bid ups to Williams, our keeper looked very solid, and the double barrelled-Prince in the midfield. Have we lost both centre backs for game against Brazil? That'd be a worry!

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Besides the good result I think the GK (Michael Woud?) is awful. Paraguay's goal was his fault and had lots of mistakes against France. Aren't Clark or Woodbridge any better?

I think the Paraguay goal looked worse than it was. On the replay from the camera behind the goal I think you could see he had it lined up and then it deflected of a defender. He also made a great save a few seconds before that. Didn't see him in the other games so I can't comment on them though.
