Was Dez the only nz football manager who didnt play 5 at the back. Such a shark formation if you dont have useful wing backs.

That was decent.

Three for me, and two for them.

26 May 21:35
Horrendously crossed our boys are better than this??

Might have to turn this off, the level of effort is despicable, confidence rock bottom.. supyk rearranging socks rather than making a run..
26 May 21:43
Is Colloty’s touchmap just the four kickoffs? Gabi Rennie shuttles role.
26 May 21:46
We need to pull these useless full backs and change formation at half time, this is a joke.

I expect Senegal will fail to beat Colombia & Israel will fail to beat Japan tomorrow, and that will be enough for us to sneak in to round of 16. But what's the point? We will likely get smashed by another group winner the same way we are being smashed now. This is night and day from the 2019 team. If Darren had any sense he would have handed the reins to Paul Temple to focus on his interim senior role and that would have provided NZF with less evidence that he is not up to it
26 May 21:52
First half is enough for me. Off for a run and when I’m back hoping Argentina have won by less than 6.
26 May 21:56
Bazely has not drilled in positioning at all. They're found constantly obstructed on the ball and unable to make and execute passing lanes. Forced to hoof it. Fundamental!!
26 May 22:01
well well well my men,  they are mocking on the broadcast in ARG about the nz footballers look too tall too skinny for football,  and that none of them will make it professionally but  the gk and number 6 and the number 14,

tbh  BAZELEY showed he is not tactician,  if argentina goes  4-2-1-3  you try to win the midfield and from there,  nz sat deep, and 3-0  goals scored by BAZELEY TACTICS so far, Mascherano is not a tactic genius but BAZELEY made him look like if he was  Martin O'Neill or red nose ALEX  F

on the bright side  the gk  is ready for  all whites so far, and consagratory performance so far,  big team will go after him I GUESS  the sweadish club is gonna milk it out with some summer money !!
26 May 22:02
when they play you that open  you go for a  4-4-1-1   thats school coaching

well  they problems were the flanks  number 3 was never helped by number 7  and the right back the same

garbett and fay were not existance, but the defeat is in the hands of your coach,  the main difference is the level they are playing, no  tenacity no urgency, no kicking around they looked overwhelmed by the situation  and event
26 May 22:08

supyk looks decent the rest  were awful
26 May 22:11
bazeley  1 /10  awful tactic approach this one is all by himself, even though level and technical abilities, he gave away midfield
26 May 22:12
Well, after the Guatemala game and this one (didn't see Uzbekistan), you can see why Surman didn't get a look in at Wellington this season.
26 May 22:13
Watch Romero off the ball, watch our guys 🤣
26 May 22:20
SHIT effort from Supyk he has the speed!!
26 May 22:20
I'm worried bazeley will have bamboozled his way into the all whites job with a draw and a win. I cant help but shake the feeling NZ football and trying to just sort of transition him into full time coach
26 May 22:22
surman was ok as  linder and number 3  the problem was the tactic,  it was  a flat  4-4-1-1

sims is motm so far

no way after today,  he got himself out of the main job, lame tactic aproach when we chose  4-2-1-3  ,  we were too open you gave us the pitch and the ball

Martin O'Neill is a very out-of-nowhere analogy of a tactical genius!

he won a few trophies at LEICESTER AND CELTIC that is a football tactic nordie genius with no balaclava

Argentina 28 shots. NZ 0 shots!.
26 May 22:49
Have we played our best, no, but Argentina have been incredibly classy today. Couple of cracking goals especially.
bling blang blah
26 May 22:54
Sims and Herdman are the only ones who showed up today and looked like they belong out there (hard to judge Surman with the quality of defenders around him and a calf injury).

You'd think playing infront of this many fans (likely a once in a lifetime experience for most of the guys out there, if you are honest) and scouts watching would be motivation to work harder. Sure it's mostly technical and tactical, but you can't play Argentina with the intensity of a training run.

Even 5-0 (writing this in added time) as is flatters us, Argentina could of scored a few more if they wanted but took the foot off the accelerator/subbed their best players.

Wait until Bazely spins this as good tactical adjustments to have an improved second half! (only conceeding 2 instead of 3).
26 May 22:58
Look at the intensity herdman is putting out compared to the rest. Night and day. Donkers gets the ball, takes his touch 15m to the sideline and let's it roll out. No one expected us to win, or even lose by less than 3 but the effort was deplorable.

mascherano sent miramón all over conchie who is nz football outlet,
the number 7 of nz was of no existence,   argentinian broadcasters are joking that we  have defeated the  TALL WHITES  since most players looked basketball players but number 6,  too skinny and tall
26 May 22:59
this one has  bazeley written all over his forehead,  he did it all wrong ,  from kick off
26 May 23:03
Surman had a massive limp and grabbing his calf when walking off the field while interviews were on...

If we do make the last 16 and he's out we have even less of a chance. Raj was woeful; couldn't win the ball in the air from a cross all match.
26 May 23:04
Not sure why anyone is even surprised by this result. Argentina have far more physically superior, technically and skilfully and they almost play a different sport. Meanwhile NZ look skinny and not developed, make poor decisions or struggle with the technical aspects of the game. Argentina have players in juventus, Lazio, and those who play domestically are starters in the Argentinian league which is one of the better ones outside Europe. What’s disappointing from a NZ perspective is seemingly lack of intent though, as Uzbekistan attacked them and should have tied and could have won. Not sure if I saw anything from today and last few games to suggest NZ will progress further then round of 16. Overall though the difference in quality should surprise no one
26 May 23:05
Hugely disappointly game, but really, group stage is par for the course. Beat the team we were expected to beat, drew the team we thought was pretty even and lost to the team we expected to beat us.

For us to now reach the knockouts we only need one of the following:
- Senegal not to beat Colombia
- Brazil to lose to Nigeria
- Uruguay-Tunisia not a draw
- Honduras not to beat France

Round of 16, as the 3rd placed team in Group A, we will either play Group B winners USA or Group C winners very likely Colombia.

JAVIER MASCHERANO after match's presser  "  i didnt expect nz to sit so deep in the first half since they scored in both matches"
on nz  yes most looked basketball players, from the defenders the best were  surman linder and the leftback, but yes most of nz players havent tried wiener schnitzels for a long time ,  messi's fav meal,  they looked too tall too skinny
26 May 23:16
who is nz 7 he was  woeful as raj too!!

That's Karunaratne, who is on the Nix books. We looked better when Herdman replaced him.
