Trained once with first team. Uffie had a go about him being untidy. It was movember. He had decided ro make training and not be late having planned to trim but getting caught in traffic or similar. Bit back a little. Never invited back.

Wow (if true) that's an interesting little window into Uffie at the Nix.
As others have said Chiefy seems a more relaxed, different fish.

Unless it's through his grandparents that will be a no.

Will start on Saturday. Would be lucky to find a fitter player in the team and he is the only midfielder without a yellow of the three. Need to protect the others from suspension.

Fin's dad is English, but no Argentina connection that I know of. Some may be getting confused as his middle name, Roa, is a surname in Spanish (however in Finn's case is te reo).

Yes latinos use 2 surnames (first your papa's & then your mama's), so they could be mistaking his middle name for his dad's surname.

If he's got that UK passport, English club scouts will for sure be sniffing around over there in Argy.

well after two rounds almost, he has been the main player of the tournament, 3 assists in two matches.  Boca and River are scouting him as one team from Brazil that they didnt mention.

Embarrassing behaviour from Uffie if true.

Reading things like that make me feel kinda relieved that Chiefy has come in to the top job and there is likely to be a bit of a refresh about the place.

We're in existence as a football club to nurture and develop talent and youth. That's been a cornerstone for the Nix, at least over the past several years anyway.

If we're basing things going on slight personal preferences or perceived grievances towards certain types/looks etc then we've clearly heading in the wrong direction. We're a football club, not an agent for cataloguing runway models.

Anyway, rant over. Bloody handy looking footballer all said and done.

Has to be a wind up, surely?

No wind up... but think about it.

He's the starting midfielder for the U20's. Was also picked for the U23's. Starts every game for the youth team, and has been one of their better/consistent performers for the last two years.

And yet, has never once made a travelling squad even for the cup games in Aussie, to not even being seen at a training.

Rated by everyone in NZF circles - but not by the one man that mattered at the NIX for the past four seasons.

He's doing well at the tournament, good on him. And whatever happens afterwards at the NIX or beyond I'm sure he will give it a good nudge.

We all know Uffie has some strong views on things especially philosophy within the game. He's made some bad calls throughout his tenure and this is probably one of them too. It's a catch 22 and what probably made him slightly above average as a coach but not any better.

Would suck if it turns out to be another Bell situation where he's in the academy and then moves on before making an appearance with the club (I know Bell went to the USA for academic reasons too) but wonder if he was involved in the first team around then if he wouldn't have made the switch obviously hindsight is a big factor, especially with youth. We still need depth in that position so hopefully the promise of getting first-team minutes will persuade him to stay with us rather than go to an overseas clubs youth team.

US win very helpful. That’s one group with 3rd place < 4pts. One to go.

I know, I know, its serious!

Any danger of singing the anthem with a bit of passion lads?

Three for me, and two for them.

Surman has a calf issue? Bit strange to start him then, seeing as it's probable we get through to last 16 regardless of what happens here.

They're doing what the coach said not to do so either someone's lying or someone's not listening .. it's a tough viewing at the moment.

Could be a long morning.

Sims seemed wildly out of position for the cross and not for the first time. Didn’t need to be right at his front post given how tight the angle was for the winger crossing the ball in.

Shouldn’t be surprised though.

When we persist with the same players and coaching staff, this is just what happens against better teams.

Occasion and opponents getting to the boys head. Ball watching and not actioning. They need to pick their head up and try to play their game soon!

That second goal was the most pathetic conceding of a goal I've seen in a long time. Well, maybe since Tuiloma meekly allowed Costa Rica to cross and score in the first minute last year. Thanks Darren for proving you're not ready for the senior job

Uzbekistan 2-0 up, so we’re finishing third. Non-qualification still a long shot (Slovakia finished 3rd on three points, so only need one more team to do the same) but it’s getting more real

It's possible the best 3rd place teams that get through to the 16 goes down to goal difference... so getting smashed here isn't great. Can't see us losing by less than 5 at this rate.

Just a reminder - These guys didn't qualify out of South America...

Currently 14-0 in goal attempts in 24 minutes. 😵

Long, long morning ahead.

Watching this is why I didn’t fancy an All Whites v Argentina match - the gulf in quality is more pronounced at senior level. Just please don’t follow in Fiji’s footsteps.
