Still rather be in their position.

The amount of money in football in Asia is only going up and that gets pumped back into the game... plus decent exposure on TV etc.

Not worried about the boys playing longball on concrete pitches, so long as we move towards more of a possession game when we start to prepare for higher quality fields / conditions that we will find in Korea.

You are speaking from an admin point of view. Many age grade players will be on contracts and getting money anyway. Having a few bucks in your club's bank is going to make up for missing a world cup? You are dreaming.

Decent Squad!

Saw that Waitemata Keeper play, He is very good. Be a good asset for us.

No Dylan Burns? or Connor Probert?

I know some professionals are missing for obvious reasons, but apart from Henry Cameron, who else could make the cut for U-20s?

Tom walters who was at Norwich yoof but was released and is in Gibraltar now - check out Europa Points home ground - amazing setting - he is still under 20 but does he know he's a kiwi or have football fans been spectulating - then there's NZF.

Vanuatu have had a player redcarded in the 70min for kicking out.

Saved our best for last.

Looking at results, is this one of our better performances of late against the island teams at age group level... I know we had a 0 - 0 but we rested players deliberately to keep them for the semis

Though no pressure on that game given both teams had qualified for the World Cup.

True, but both teams would still have wanted the win.

You can watch the full game on the OFC website... quality is ok.

May be a bit harsh but did it seem from the limited highlights reels on ofc tv that Logan Rogerson went missing in the tournament?

Last year he scored plenty for the 17s in the islands - this year no goals that i can remember - has bevan taken his position on the field or is it form?

Wonder who will be added to the squad and wonder who will miss the plane to Korea?

I doubt Rogerson would have suited our set up there, same with Singh.

The Nix players are taught to keep the ball down and run with it at pace and pass with intent... playing hoof island tactics would have been very counter intuitive.

I think on good pitches against more structured teams he will stand out.

Dyer missed out on player of the tournament. Hudson had just rung on Big Sam's phone and said he'd done great. So he was just a bit dark on it. Korea will be his tournament for show.

Based on highlights from all the games... Dyer was definitely one of our best and looked quite good. Gets a lot of stick about his All Whites call up (understandably so) but seems to be one of our better u20 players.

Nothing on NZF... no surprises there!... sorry, should have clarified.

I don't think there's anything wrong with NZF not naming a squad for an age-group camp. Those who need to know, do, and it's too early to put kids names in public.

Permalink Permalink

Dylan Burns and Tinashe Marowa of Tasman United both attended the camp

Draw is being held on 15th March.

We got about a month and a bit till this tournament kicks off.

I know for a fact with Hudson's orders that Dyer and Lewis will be picked,

Billingsley? - Where is he now?

Any Overseas U-20 talent that anyone knows about?

All I can think of, off the top of my head is:

Henry Cameron (Blackpool)

Dane Ingham (Brisbane Roar) - If he does tie himself to NZ over Aus

Myer Bevan (Nike Academy) - Unsure if still there, anyone confirm this for me?

Michael Woud (Sunderland)

Hunter Ashworth (University of SF)

Tom Walters (Europa Point)

Luca Scimia (Pescara)

Hayden McHenery (Brisbane Roar) - If eligible, or ties himself to NZ.

I am not in anyway making statements, more questions.

Would like to know what actual overseas talent we have overseas and if anyone else knows anyone else. I know that not all these players will make the squad, but its good to know who's around.
