Where has this been announced?

I can't find any public announcement.

Has not been publically announced yet.

I can't imagine NZF is publically announcing a list of 35 players - goes against their whole style.

I know of a player who was cut last week by being told he was not in the 30 names submitted already to FIFA. So the names are on a list but how the coach hopes to trim that when they are spread out all over and not training as a group is of interest to me.

apparently 1 camp and coach travelling country watching games

Know the coaches were down in Wellington on Monday. Should be fairly obvious what game they went to.

So the All Whites schedule has been released, but not the team or schedule for our u20's... despite playing earlier.

Are we still locking in games - or is the squad not a priority, i'm excited for the tournament as usual, but have nothing to look at!

Tournament is 20 May to 11 June. The following teams are heading to South Korea. There is some sort of camp for NZ in Auk next week.

On a side note, North Korea are the current Women's U20 champions.

That prospect is a media beat up. The North wants to take over the South, and who wants to take over a radioactive crater? Now Japan, they might nuke THAT.

Seems that they definitely will be better prepared than NZ.

The Vanuatu team has already been in camp more than two months in Auckland, preparing at the OFC Academy there and playing the likes of Auckland City in friendlies.

They've flown in a very experienced Montenegrin coach to take over the side too (as in Serbia and Montenegro).

Dejan Gluscevic has coached in Serbia and Montenegro, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore etc.

He's coached national age group teams and club sides and won the Serbian Youth League coaching Red Star Belgrade.

I don't know where all of those defenders play (FB or CB), but is Ben Mata really not deserving of a place among them? Has to be the most notable omission.

Is he U17 elligible?  If so then they won't pick him for U-20 as then he can't play in the U-17s (is my recollection).  Just a theory otherwise it's an odd choice as you say although he'd be behind all the other named WeeNix defenders at this stage based on what I have seen of him.

Ignore me.  He played in the last 17s so can't do that twice and probably means he's now 18.

Also McGarry is wasted as a defender.

Ben's a 1998, so yeah, this U-20 group is where he should be. Didn't make Oceanias, so there must be some underlying issue (whether due to his quality, or something else).

Surprised George Debenham didn't make it.

And yeah, McGarry as defender is puzzling.

If they take 3 x GKs, 4 x Forwards, 7 x Mids and 7 x Defenders, that's a lot of defenders to miss out. Agreed James could easily be classed as a winger (his best position IMO). Billingsley has been playing at Wests/Ole of late - is it semester break time?

He's Zimbabwe born, 20, and lived in the USA, so fairly clear cut.

Makes you wonder how he was invited to a camp in January and gave interviews showing his desire to be selected in the aftermath.

Will be interesting with Lewis and Dyer and Cameron all involved as well, and the need for a Bell or Porter to give some midfield weight.

has Cameron been on loan this season as hasn't featured for Blackpool? In Nov for the AWS he came on then bizarrely got substituted not long after. I hope he's match fit as we haven't seen much of him to be fair but what we did see in debut was encouraging.

Assuming Dyer plays as a central mid who is the defensive mid in this squad?

I agree re McGarry he's a good wide player- even attacking midfielder. Might mean they are going to play 5-3-1-1 or something with him and Ingham as wide wing backs

Cameron was sent on a one month loan to Telford United from Jan. 7 to Feb. 7 and made three appearances.

He then returned to Blackpool but hasn't appeared for them.

Dyer, Bell, Singh

Lewis, Bevan, Cameron

maybe? if 4-2-3-1/4-3-3

Bell and (less so) Porter are the defensive midfielders.

Heard they play a friendly in China and then one against Mexico, but this is second hand from a parent . They are seriously underdone compared to other sides who will compete. South Africa in Germany currently playing a number according to Liam Jordans posts, and others played a number over the recent months. We done nothing all year and then rush headlong into a cup, quite disappointing. I know logistics are hard but really, the previous 17s and 20s had far better preparation. Lets hope they can step up despite this poor investment in them.

I wonder if NZF have said that out of this squad there are enough players already in pro environments / college systems that they are better of staying at their respective clubs etc?

NZF needs professional players to grow and market the game and we seem to closing arguably players biggest window to get in.

Pro environments are certainly a good option, but is the College off season a a good time to thrust players into the biggest event available for most of them?

Even great players need time together to gel as a team and take on board game plans etc. There are a number of players in the 30 who are not part of any build up, even a poor build up.

There was a squad that assembled from memory before the OFC nations Cup. A wider u20 squad. Wasn't there players called Patrick izzo (I think that was his name) who has at Vancouver white caps and Andre Greensmith?

He's playing for the Nix Academy in Central League at the moment (got a hattrick last week) and was one of Tasman's best players. He certainly has the ability, I'd be amazed if he was left out on quality.
