FIFA dismisses charges against NZF following disciplinary proceedings

FIFA can confirm today that, following disciplinary proceedings opened in June against New Zealand Football (NZF) for having allegedly fielded an ineligible player in the preliminary competition match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ played on 26 March 2013, all charges against NZF are dismissed in full.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee decided that NZF is not liable for having breached art. 55 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code or art. 8 of the Regulations for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, which the disciplinary proceedings related to.

New Zealand finished top in round three of the FIFA World Cup™ qualifiers in the Oceania zone, six points clear of New Caledonia in second place.
 
Therefore, New Zealand will now proceed to the intercontinental home-and-away play-off against the fourth-placed team from North and Central America and the Caribbean.

That almost implies that if the decision had gone against us, we wouldn't be proceeding to the playoff. Wouldn't have thought that's the case.
