So. What is on the table for this team ? Do they assemble in early April, a week before the tournament starts like the under 20's ?

Hearing Steve Cain speak on the radio the other night he wants to get them all to Auckland asap.  They plan to enter a mens league up there as a squad. Sounds like he's trying to put together a preparation for them.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

what happens to these players when it comes secondary schools nationals time though? are they allowed back to their hometowns to play for the school they represented for the last few years or do they stack some college in auckland with the entire nz U17 squad?

Who cares?

They'll be going to school in Auckland (most of them not changing schools because they already live in Auckland). A few move north and will presumably have a new school.

Next to qualification for a World Cup though the National Sec Schools is an irrelevance.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Hello there. Back in 98, in preparation for the 1999 U17s, kevin Fallon's NZ squad played in the northern youth (U19) league, using Mt Albert Grammar as their home base.

It had nothing to do with scholboy football, and worked quite well. I  remember some fantastic matches between the NZ kids and the club lads.

The under 17's have already played Waitakere Youth and are playing Auckland Youth I understand on the 11th at North Harbour. Unfortunately only 12 of the 20 are at present based in Auckland  Of those twelve, one from out of Auckland (moved here) and one commuting from Hamilton.
The rest of the team were made up of "extended squad" players.

The NZ under 17 World Cup qualifiers are now in Auckland from 20th April to 24th April.
The teams involved are Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Tahiti and NZ.
Abusive observers that insult our players slaving there arses off to do well for NZ, like the one that insulted loudly one of our players who came on in the second half of the first game against Chile in January need not attend.
All supportive audiences to our National under 17 team are most welcome.
