NZ U23's (Olympic Team)
Just been reading on NZ soccer about the NZ Olympic team. Looks
like they will have one but then again the funding and convincing
the NZOC will be a challenge! I think we need one cause the more
International tournaments we go to the better chance we have of
getting some decent results and it bridges the gap between the
U20's and the all whites! What sort of team/squad could we come up
with? Im guessing you would have say have some of the better Under
20s players from the World Cup, obviously Costa is probably the
only Under 17 unless someone has a great World Cup then the rest
would be from the Last Under 20s who did poorly in Oceania
Qualifying so something along the lines:
U 17's : Costa
U 20's : Spoonley, Boxall, Jenkins, James, Keats, Draper, Henderson
Last U 20's: Old, Tinkler (Anyone know what happend to him?), Kris Bright who is at a Dutch Club i read somewhere? What other players from this age group who are eligible? Reading on what it says on the site they would start putting together a team around December with Qualifying in March so maybe some players who do well in this years NZFC to add to those players who have already proven themselves.

The overriding criteria for the male (U23) team would be to provide evidence to the NZOC of the team being able to progress beyond the first round of the Olympic Games competition.
Such evidence would be based on performances of players at U-20 and Senior Men�s level as there is no competition at U-23 level in 2007. Performances by the U-20 team at the U-20 World Cup and the Senior Men�s World Cup qualifiers will be reviewed by NZ Football and the NZOC on December 3, 2007.

I read about the qualification process to get the backing from the
NZ Olmpic committe.
I will be absolutely pissed off if they don't let us try and
qualify for the Olympics. I am not sure what the qualification
route is. Would we have to beat Australia?
They got to let us try. If we don't qualify it will be cheaper
for them anyway. lol
Brockie will be there also... tinkler went to Malysia I heard.
Sam Messam is in the squad for the Fiji games... but he's poo.
Might be best if we grab the younger boys again. I'd grab Michael
White also.

Kris Bright is at Fortuna Sittard certainly a few young kiwis
