To their credit they kept their heads up in game 3, NK had more
shots on target and corners, but a draw wouldn't have been hugely
unjust

I'm only guessing but i bet some of that team went on to play
for the all whites, and as Buffon points out , this crop is
relatively better (on those stats) that our current 27 year
olds

Why wouldn't there have been Spain?
NZ had to beat Australian and the top teams in Asia to get
there. If they were in Asia-Oceania, they would have had to have
beaten Australian and the top teams in Asia.
Same difference.
Since we have been in Oceania we have been kept out of most
tournaments by Australia, and have mostly had competitive games
against sides ranked in the bottom 10 percent in the world. The
only way any team or even individuals get better is to play
meaningful games against the top teams - and Asia has plenty of
really good football teams.
I stand by what I wrote, we have gone backwards since we
joined Oceania.
I would far sooner be playing in the Asian Cup, and have our
club teams like the Phoenix, playing in the Asian Champions
League.
But we have the O League, and Oceania Champions League.
Meaningless friiendlies at the other end of the world hardly
help the game here.

Its sad that a bunch of communist that bow down to a statue of the guy that starves their families have a better youth system, even though they have little contact with the outside world.

13 players from the same club side certanly helps!!!!!!!!!! Their
20s men side are Asian champions, the 17s were runners up and the
womens 20s won the World Cup last year. A lot of state resources
are being put into football in North Korea. Its is hard to
compete with that coming from New Zealand.
