was tonight at Cap Ftbal. I should really give a run down since I went, but I cant really be assed at the moment.
Basically they said we have been crap, we are putting up our fees, but we are actually going to be responsible now and not pss our money away.

Sounds like they have got commitment, not sure about the fundamentals though. Surely they can add some value for their fee increases. When I said junior clubs will do things in-house rather than be affiliated it seemed to be taken rather lightly (compared it to losing them to other sports). You might actually have to do something at grass-roots NZF if you want people to swallow this.

Sounds like out international fixtures are screwed - so its back to watching us play Vanuatu every four years.

Other than that good to see them talking to the masses. Now go get us some decent sponsors.

Good on them for taking a structured approach. and there does seem to be a genuine commitment to be more open and transparent in dealings with the football community.

But, I would like to see a much clearer gameplan for raising the public profile of the sport (which is probably the most effective means of achieving most of the goals theyve set). That is how we truly lift football to another level in NZ.

Unfortunately, other than grabbing one off opportunities like the U17 World Cup, the only vehicles they have for substantially and sustainably raising the profile of the game are the Phoenix (which is already doing its bit), the NZFC (which would require major investment) or the All Whites (who will never have a profile, except for the fleeting moment we qualify for big tournaments, while we remain in Oceania).

Unfortunately, it sounds like the new regime is not inclined to move on Oceania (i may be wrong, but thats impression i gather). As for the NZFC, they need to get creative, they need to get ambitious. How do we get one game per week on Sky?

the whole thing looks more like tidy up than a revolution to me.  i agree that we need to get our house in order, but something needs to be done to hike the sport up a few notches.
