Anyone seeing Nelsen getting out of this one? You think he will make an appearance?

What are the chances of the away game being played this month?

Perhaps a better question should be "do you think Nelsen should come and play in the Vanuatu qualifier?"

Much as I would love to see him playing, I think it is important that he retains his fitness and his place in the team at Blackburn. The long journeys (and the organisational debacles around this qualifying campaign) could be too risky. If we cannot beat Vanuatu etc without Nelsen and Killen (and I know we didn't - even with them- in the not too distant past), we are surely going to struggle should we get to the playoff stages anyway.

Nelsen playing in an (say) an FA cup final  this season, or in European competition next season, or risking himself against Vanuatu while still recovering from an injury? Which is better for the long term development of the game?

We should be able to beat these smaller nations without Nelsen and Killen, but realistically if we hope to get to the next World Cup or even come close, we will Killen and Nelsen to be familiar with the other players. If we hope to be even semi-successful we are going to rely on team work to win us matches because man for man we don't match up with a lot of the teams we come up against. I think if we hope to be successful the sooner we have players like this available for every game so we can work on team structure and strategies the better.

He sure is. To be honest, I'm just waiting for someone to start a thread along the lines 'The Nix should sign Nelsen'...

Doubt we'd have a chance of getting him before he's 40

What, you think he'd rather stay and play in the Premiership? Shock, horror.

Blackburn captain, extremly good pay packet ,a new family, life,s good at the top... why would nelsen bother returning to our shores ,he has already giveh our national team the big cold sholder and has forgotten his roots ,im bloody gutted..its not as though we are over run with international players, and with killen joining the unavaible list ,world cup qualifing again is a long and distant hope for kiwi fans.I will watch with intrest to see if Nelsen inertia dissapates if we do qualifiy for the Cup...
