Stink news about Clayton Lewis being under investigation for taking over the counter asthma meds.

It wasn't that he took over the counter meds it was that there were unusually high levels of it in his system! And 'over the counter' or not you still need a prescription to get them and they come with dose recommendations etc........

There should really be a commonsense approach taken... but in the current climate regarding doping/steroids etc things are going to be highly scrutinized.  Really rough for the player though, as it's a run of the mill everyday medication. But there are regulations, and I'm sure the players who are on prescription medication would have dispensations/exemptions etc organized by the medical team.

I'll chuck $20 on there having been some notice sent to NZF that they didn't pass on, or similar...

Regulations, dispensations, and exemptions aren't exactly NZF's forte.

He should have been called up in the first place. He deserved the call more than Rory Fallon. Is there a reason why Hudson seems to be averted to him?

Also, the last seven posters on this thread have custom titles. I feel very out of my depth here.

In-jokes scare me.

Also, make that eight. Valeo posted while I was using that fancy preview thingy to make sure my Twitter handle wasn't fudged. Unless legend isn't a custom title. Shark.

NZF tweeted that they were hoping to have a match report up this morning. It was behind closed doors, so info is scarce

1-0 win, Wood scored. Wee Mac and Ridenton carrying minor knocks. 3rd match cancelled, keeping players fresh/managing knocks and early departure on Wednesday cited as reasons.

He has been playing as a 10, and I expect  would perform a shuttling role in a midfield 3 well

Don't bank on it. We're bad enough to lose a match that we aren't playing.

Brockie as the holding midfielder if we are sticking to historical scripts.

But shark and giggles aside. Some tight games. Just what herr Hudson ordered. 5/6 nil would have been a waste of time. Especially if it was against us.

Only banana skin is playing structured ball possession teams then playing teams that counter fast and are less orthodox in their build up in the final 3rd. May take some .....acclimatisation?

What's the deal with watching the games? Does anyone know if you'll be able to watch them through OFC tv (or similar) like four years ago? Don't mind paying for it either...

Even if it is about fitness first and foremost, I am a little disappointed with the size of our wins against amateur opponents.

Yes they are good club sides, but they are just club sides.

So no other games will be? We won't get to see a whole group? Although I assume if NZ lose in the semifinals or something we'll get to watch the final at least. Very poor effort from Sky, but that's unsurprising.

I don't have sky anymore and will probably be working so I was really hoping to acquire some type of legal stream.

I remember last time I was down in Queenstown for a wedding anniversary and watched all the games from an internet cafe! Fun times

are they even "good" club sides really? I mean, the Victorian and NSW state leagues are generally touted as the best at that level in Aussie, so would mid-table teams in Queensland be that good? Are we talking Central League type of level here? Better? Worse?

If we can only win by tiny margins against average QLD teams yet we somehow win the Nations Cup we're going to get smashed in the Confederations Cup at the Tahiti sort of level in 2013.

Far from me being an apologist for NZF, but there's no need to read too much into those games - the main purpose is really to get the guys playing together again, get most of the squad involved, and avoid injuries. To what extent all that was achieved - not sure, but I don't think that reading too much into the score lines, level of opposition, etc, is a great indication of where things really are.

Maybe I enjoy football too much but I'd love to watch Tahiti and New Caledonia in the group stage so as to watch a preview of when we face them in the knockout stage.

Also, this is our continent's edition of the European Championship, of the Copa America, and we can't watch all of it on Sky? Embarrassing.

Totally agree. Plus in these sort of games the big side doesn't care and the little side has a point to prove (see also: Phoenix beating West Ham).

I was just looking for a way to be a negative dick about it

I would be shocked if NPL Queensland was worse than Central League, simply because Wikipedia says Redlands are semi-pro and a team with Chris Wood, WeeMac and the mighty Moses Dyer should be beating a CL team by more than one.

Yeah of course Sky should play all games live so they can be watched by about 100 people.

Sometimes a dose of realism is needed

Just on the coverage, last I heard there were real concerns about whether it would it shown live. Sounds like the hold broadcaster is having issues and OFC have sent their people over there to sort it out.

Good thing they aren’t holding a youth World Cup anytime soon.....

I'm presuming that all the State Leagues (aside from ACT and Tassie) are more or less the equivalent to the ASBP? Population wise, playing numbers wise, gut-feel wise......I haven't looked up any of those numbers, and I stand by them until someone raises an eyebrow, at which point I'll quietly slink away

I'd have hoped that OFC would show all the ONC online.....maybe with a side order of KFC

I think it's generally agreed that it goes Vic > NSW > QLD in terms of their top club leagues, and these guys that we played are a level below the top club sides.
