I guess it makes a big difference when all your players grow up playing the same style of football in the same country their whole lives. 

The All Whites look as though every single player has been taught to play slightly differently and the coach has so far been unable to find a solution to this disjointedness. I don't think there is an easy solution.

Watching the game we were dominated in every part of the game except goal keeping howlers.

Nothing wrong with being dominated, mate. But yea, we were played off the park tonight.

Nah. We were very very lucky. Match fixing? Only our keeper played consistently very well, though even then you could argue the goal could've been awarded to them didn't he just head it out of our keeper's hands?

Adams did quite well.

Tuiloma, Smeltz and Themi very disappointing.

That was one of the worst New Zealand performances I've seen. I saw my first game at Newmarket Park mid seventies. We were embarrassingly poor.

Marinovic was easily our best player, which says something. Prelevic is not a footballer's a+*^hole; Tuiloma was extremely disappointing. There's a lot of soul searching needed before the final.

I dunno, it's just a thought but.....maybe we could put our best 11 players on the pitch?

New Caledonia must be gutted.

Yet again we have no one to compare to their ball players.

I thought Smeltz came out of the game with his reputation enhanced! In fact the same for anyone who didn't play.

The worst thing about the whole dire situtaion is we were meant to be playing a long ball game but couldn't even do that properly.

Kicks slicing of the side of feet, hoicks where no one was, even when they kicked the ball out on purpose it looked uncultured.

If you can't kick a ball right in the middle and time a good old punt down the middle of the field then something is seriously seriously wrong.

Will be interesting to see who we play in the final.

What is the goal of All Whites in this tournament? Play goid football or win the tournament? Certainly the latter. With a bit of luck we win tody, and hopefully to complete the job on Saturday.

In Honiara we committed the goal keeping howlers. Only slightly positive takeaway from this.

The worst performance by any New Zealand football side since, Rangers thrased New Brighton in the early rounds of the

Chatham Cup in 1987.

Just voicing a thought bubble that maybe Saiko the pyscho worth a Nix trial, in front of Eddie's steely eyes. Plenty of people trial at clubs doesn't mean they get signed.

But yes as someone smarter than me pointed out, defenders are needed in Wellington not attacking players. 

And yes Totori was a dud signing - still some of these amateur Islands players have showed a higher skill than various AWs full time professionals.

So how will we line up in the final? My guess:

Still pretty filthy about Hudson picking no midfield depth. It's one thing to add youth to a squad, it's another thing entirely to select a bunch of kids who seem like deer in the headlights whenever the ball comes their way. Guys like Keat must wonder what they've done wrong...

I kind of get that, but do wonder at what stage do we ever try to play "gold" (or good) football. So we hopefully win through to the confeds cup via some ugly route 1 football. then we come up against some quality opposition who we will struggle to beat playing it on the deck, who will give our players no time or space and we will find ourselves again reverting to kick and chase . . .

If we are determined to play this way at this level, in order to just win, then it is a bit hard to see how we can ever improve our quality of football. who do we chose to play a more attractive type of game against?

That's a very low bar.  We should beat these teams, we have better players, more resources, better build up so really it's got to be about more than just did we win the tournament.  How are we tracking for Confeds?  How are we tracking for a WC qualifier?  If every All White coach's job is assessed on basis of did you beat the island teams it is a very, very simple job.  And yes I know about Honiara.  We are 160 in the world and playing like it and that is a dire state of affairs.

So far Hudson's big gamble is not paying off.  He has left out pro footballers for amateurs and we look like you would expect, a team of amateurs.
