Probably worthy of it's own thread, with NZ set to host the final stages early next year, and Ferns at long last to play at home again.

Round One qualifying tourney in the Cooks.

American Samoa have won their very first FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier match, beating Tonga 3-0 at the CIFA Academy in Rarotonga, to kickstart the OFC qualifying process for FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ in Brazil.

Composed mainly of American based players, American Samoa imposed themselves early, despite their lack of international action in 2025.

American Samoa now progress to the final of FIFA Women’s World Cup OFC Round One qualifying, against either the Cook Islands or Tahiti on Monday NZT. Meanwhile, Tonga have experienced the cutthroat nature of the qualifying process and suffered an early elimination. They will remain in Rarotonga to play an international friendly against the loser of the second semi-final prior to the Round One final.

American Samoa have powered past the Cook Islands 4-0 at the CIFA Academy in Rarotonga, to secure progression to the second round of OFC qualifying for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™.

Success marks the first time American Samoa have won consecutive women’s international matches, and the first time they have advanced past the first round of the qualifying process for a senior World Cup at any level.

Three of their four goals came in the first half, setting up a dominant victory over the tournament hosts in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 OFC Qualifiers (Round One) final.

They now advance to join
Group A of FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 OFC Round Two Qualifying in February 2026, alongside New Zealand, the Solomon Islands, and Samoa. Meanwhile, the Cook Islands hopes of qualifying come to an early end.

Short odds.

Though the Ferns in recent years have played alot more out of Auckland (Tron, Napier, ROF, ChCh & Dunners) than the AWs.

Hamilton and Auckland will host the last stage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Oceania qualifiers in April.

New Zealand Football have confirmed the dates and venues for the semi-finals and final of the Oceania qualifying series, which will decide who represents Oceania at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The winner of the qualifier series gains automatic entry to the 32-nation World Cup tournament, while the runners-up will go into a 10-team intercontinental play-off series to decide the last three slots in Brazil.

The fixture schedule for the Oceania qualifiers will have Group A playing matches in Honiara, Solomon Islands, between February 27 and March 5, 2025.

At the same time, four teams will contest Group B in matches in Lautoka, Fiji.

The two top teams from both groups will meet in the semi-finals to be staged at Hamilton’s FMG Stadium Waikato on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

The final will be played at Albany’s North Harbour Stadium on Wednesday April 15, 2026.

Oh well, I trust NZF to schedule meaningful home games in the other FIFA windows in Wellington and Christchurch 😁
