Heard a Kent Johns suggestion:

Just re-release and reword "One shot for glory" to "One shot for Rory".
With a few other alterations - I'd reckon that could work quite nicely.
What about remixing Ray Woolf's number?
Dunno.
"One shot for Rory"?
As stated earlier by YF - we can win this fight.
PS: Nothing about our beautiful mountains, greenery, oceans, southern cross plz. Lyrics must stick to football (sat nite all the better).

I am in the process of writing 2 songs - a double A side - to be released early next year.
All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Update on this.
I sent an email to New Order (via a agent) to see if they would help me write the songs. They did World in Motion (best ever football song) so I thought I should go for the best. A couple of hours later I noticed a missed call on my phone, and there was a message from Peter Hook (bass player with Joy Division and NO) - he told me that the band split up 3 years ago so they wouldn't be able to help "but it was the sort of mental thing that they would have done". He also told me his advice was to write a "sh*t hot song" - like it is that easy.
Now thinking of trying Ian Broudie, David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, or Keith Allen but have decided that I will have to be very desperate to try Ant and Dec as On the Ball was the worst song I have ever heard (and I went to a Bon Jovi concert).

What about for the intro to the song its dodo dododo dodododo ALL WHITES then straight away the Jason Pine commentry for when fallon scores and the penalty. Got the idea from listening to some previous england song, it starts with the DODO DODODO DODODODO ENGLAND then has Beckhams free kick and the whole crowd erupts.possible.tomrewi2009-11-28 18:56:12

New Order. Greatest ever British Band. How about Blue Monday 1988 version as the background beat, their beats are fantastic...just an idea...
