Oly Whites on the Telly?

Suggest fans phone their local TVNZ offices and e-mail via tvnz.co.nz (click on to "contact us" at bottom of homepage) to complain about seeming lack of live coverage/ broadcast of complete games on TV One but only on Freeview (which hardly anyone has) and streaming on internet when a lot of us don't have broadband.
Also, in many towns, would be good to know of anyone organizing public screenings at pubs or football clubrooms (you seem to have a venue at the Four Kings in Wellington mentioned above).
No pubs known to have Freeview in Christchurch for example.

Pete you've made your point ok?

Ring some pubs in Chch, make sure there are none with freeview.

As discussed there is only so much of every sport they can show during the games, and if people contact TVNZ they will probably (and fairly reasonably) point out that the games are in fact being shown on two platforms.  Not ideal of course, but it's not as if they have been completely ignoring the football

Haven't found any pubs in Ch Ch with Freeview yet- nor does Mainland Football know of any.
Mainland Football may be interested in organising a screening if anyone has a Freeview box- no one at their office has one. (There's not been much interest in the South in Freeview yet).
The nice lady at TVNZ in Christchurch when I phoned her yesterday told me lots of soccer fans had been phoning all morning to complain about the lack of coverage of Thursday's opening men's game against China and the opening women's game on Wednesday. She took my point about this and said all complaints are passed on to the relevant department in Auckland, especially when they receive a large volume of feedback, as this indicates how the public feel. She admitted she doesn't have Freeview herself.
So people shouldn't feel shy about contacting TVNZ. I know that Sky TV have responded to volume of calls about football coverage in the past. They have televised All Whites games from overseas after people such as myself have phoned them (Sky TV, being a pay channel, will often even phone you back later with coverage details).

sorry normo, i dont even know what pete said but ...

the game v china, olympic hosts, biggest country by pop in the world, at the olympic stadium in front of what will be a frenetic capacity crowd, is not being shown on tv1, despite tvnz having the rights and despite the game not clashing with anything else of note (11:45pm) and despite it taking place prior to the opening ceremony and therefore not having to compete with other sports.

and from what i can acertain its only on freeview, not the internet channel. not good enough. in fact, its garbage.

Unfortunately, YF's designated dissident spokesperson has fled the country under pursuit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs - rumoured to have been granted refuge by a sympathetic Fijian junta.

The Aussies fans kicked up a big stink, supported and rallied by 442. Forced channel 7 to promise they wouldnt cut to other sports towards end of matches. if we'd got onto it earlier and been organised we could have kicked up a decent fuss. well get the bastards next time normo.

Olympic coverage from both TV ONE and TVNZ Sport Extra(the freeview channel) will also be avaliable as live streaming video online via www.tvnz.co.nz/olympics

Here's the direct link to the video player: http://tvnz.co.nz/content/olympics_live_video

If you have a decent internet connection, or know someone who does, then you'll be able to watch NZ v China online :)

Is there any place in WELLINGTON showing the match tonight???
Four Kings maybe???
Could someone please let me know???
The Mrs is already disappointed (as am I) she cant get to see Serbia vs Australia so this could be a consolation...though the remote is suffering after she threw it at the tv having found out that coverage doesnt start till 2moro!!!

Wish me luck when she finds out she sees equestrian and showjumping on while Ivanovic and Djokovic try to get a medal!!!

the way i see it TV1 is milking the Olympics to build its 'profile' whilst (yet again) screwing football supporters

sure I expect a lot, but TV 1 needs to wake up to the fact that its poor attitude towards football is being increasingly noted by the hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders who have family members who play the game

Well the fact that it doesn't clash with anything, not to mention the other points already raised, means that it's really inexcusable. Particularly as the dumb website appears to hate Safari (or Safari hats TVNZ) and keeps reloading itself, despite us having broadband.

Don't try watching it on Safari - doesn't appear to liek TVNZ. Works on Firefox however

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

To be honest I wasn't really trying to answer any questions, more just letting some of you know you had a chance to catch the game.

I'm sorry the solution didn't fit for all of you, I was just acting as a football supporter spreading the message and I hope some people here did manage to catch the game.
