Objectively Japan have been better, but we're not also rans. Japan are playing against us with a sharkload of respect, and if we did win it wouldn't be underserved.

Well I think it's fair to say that in international football we have got to to another level with this generation of players. We've done it before as at the South Africa WC, the under 20s etc. Good to see whatever happens. I have pessimism about penalty shootouts though. Hopefully proven wrong very soon.

Poor choices in Lewis and Cacace. Not natural goal scorers. 
Still- we saw Champness and Just in regular time. That was our best chance, some poor protection of possession, a couple of helpful decisions and we just weren’t composed with the PKs.

Hold your head high boys. You've given them a real run for. Their money. They were always favourites and many believed the game would be over before the end of the first half. We matched then and had some really good chances to even win it. The future is bright and you've done NZ proud
